Because none of the usual heroes had heard of me or 360C, and we just rocked up and cleaned up!!! Our table was filled with trophies and the other tables were filled with long and puzzled faces. I think there were 5 355 Challenges there that day at PI, and I hadn't been to a track day for many years, compared to the others who had been regulars, including Weldon in his ALMOST Challenge. Nope....they'd never heard of me. I hadn't been to a club event for many years. Same with 360C. they all thought it was just a funny coincidence with the name on the Ron Davis trophy
There was also a drag race at the airport. As if a v8 could win that against Boxers and Daytonas etc. Anyway PP, why didn’t you win that in your highly modified hot rod Boxer? Or did Bruno cheat? Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Bruno's car was a beast. Much faster in a straight line than any of the BBs around at the time. Freakish. Btw, it was injected, hardly highly modified.
I’ve been putting this job off for a while but decided to bite the bullet today The fan on the 575 aircon stopped working properly about 6 months. It was either off or ran full bore. Good news was I found the answer on Fchat, the blower regulator was fried and all I had to do was fit a new one (couple of hundred dollars from Eurospares) Bad news was, according to the workshop manual - Step 1 - remove entire dashboard and dissemble aircon to get to the part. FFS I managed to find the regulator tucked in high up under the steering wheel side of the dash, next to the heater box. It was held in by two screws, the bottom one came out without too much hassle, the top one was not visible. Sheez. I found it by passing a scope up and managed to get my fingers in, but could not guide a screw driver in adequately to undo it. After hours at it, I made an executive decision and basically broke the bracket on the old regulator to get it out. New one in, with the screw in situ and managed to get it all back together. Thankfully it all works as it should. Hate to think what the labour charge would be if I had the dealer do it! Great job Greg!....I recon if it was done by the dealer it would have cost you a donkey, a goat , half a pint of blood plus they would have wanted your pool boy for 2 hours unlimited use.......
You've got more patience than me, I hope you at least swore blue murder at it I hate those jobs where one screw/bolt/nut is easy to access but the other one needs superhuman abilities
I had a similar problem 11 years ago on my 944 Turbo. Either fan speed 1 or 4. It lives under the bonnet in front of the windscreen. Porsche Forums said "give it a wiggle" and it will probably come good. I did and it worked for a day. Did it a second time, worked perfectly and I've never had to touch it again. Nothing like a good wiggle.
Have you pulled apart the old one? It looks like a PWM controller. I'm about to put one in the 308 to control a more powerful blower. Actually, you don't do autopsies, do you - just x-ray it.
