Ricksb Yes I do have them available. I'd be happy to help. Please call me 508-341-7440. East coast time..... Ron Frohock
Hi Ron, Do you have anymore of your latch hooks. Also I will need the middle sliding adjustable part that goes into the frame slot as one of the hinges broke off. I broke them off as it started raining and already dark outside and in my rush to put the top up, broke it! Anyone have any of these spare parts I can buy from you for the time being? Hey Mike, bummer but inevitable. Contact FChatter Gianluca, He machined a new sliding paddle for our car and at the same time cut about 20 blanks. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138527115&postcount=10 Dave
That is sweet looking. I will contact Gianluca to see if he has anymore of the sliders and pick up a pair of the u-shape hinges from Ron. Thanks Again Dave! Mike Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Today I stopped by Gianluca's house, he will be milling my mid section of the latch out of a piece of steel. The original's are made from crappy pot metal cast which a kid can break. These new ones will be sweet and does the job. If any one needs one of these, you should contact Gianluca as he only has a few left that he made from DavebDave's broken piece. Also, I'm buying a pair of the u-shape hinges from Ronfrohock. My latches will break no more... Thanks to these guys ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I got Ron's toggles working with Gianluca's slider part he made for me. It works great and so much stronger now that I doubt I will ever break it again! Ron's toggles = $175 a pair Lucas slider piece = $150 a pair I paid $325 for a really nice pair and no more worries about the latch breaking off. btw, Luca's slider piece you can get with milled out space for the tiny spring or leave it un-milled which just adds more strength to the piece. I choose the un-milled because the tiny spring does nothing in my opinion. The latch works great. See pics. I seem to have suffered the same failure of the roof latch in my 1990 Mondial-t cab as described here. I have already purchased Ron's toggles but I need sliding piece with the "ears" described above for a complete fix. If anyone knows where I can purchase 1 or 2, please let me know so I can once again raise and lower my roof at will. Thanks.
Now that I am home for the holidays, I took a day to make more toggles. I now have them available again. Please contact me if you need them. Thanks - Ron Frohock
Well, the dreaded sub freezing temperatures are here in Indiana so the project today was to raise the Mondi roof (I only do it once a year) and while all windows went up fine (miracle) I managed to snap the well-designed Italian roof latches! What were the engineers thinking?! Incredible! Thanks Ron, look forward to receiving them. Cheers, Greg
my mondial has a latch that is not adjustable.translated i can not latch the top alone and even sometimes need extra help from a pull strap.i don't know if the adjustable part has been removed of if something from another car has been installed.all i know is it's a pain for me.i see different peices and parts but i am confused.it was easier figureing out how to replace timing belts than understand latches.sure would like to find a one stop shop that i could send what i have and make it useable.thanks to all
And maybe a reminder that the top is best not put up when it is cold. They will shrink a bit with cold. I put mine up recently, let it sit in the sun for a while while partially up and used a blow drier on the rear window. Sometimes a good long drive will warm it up due to proximity. If it's cold we are asking those little latches to do too much work.
Fred, does your car have a latch similar to this? The 85 and under has these I believe, 86-93 T cabrios have the adjustable screw latch. Is your U shape toggles broken on the latch? Pics will help for sure. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

was just looking on e-bay and saw two latches exactly like mine for sale.they were advertised as alfa-romeo,ferrari and lancia.quite a coincedence i thought
So I just had my top replaced and during the fitment the latches broke ...(Ron had advised I buy these when I bought the vent kit..how did he know) Ron was grateful enough to priority mail the latch kit and my top is perfect now!
I just ordered a pair from Ron, super nice guy! Can not wait to get them. If yours are not broke yet, just wait, they will.
Ron, What about the availability of the latch springs. One of mine is broken (smaller one) and I am trying to fabricate one using a Lowe's spring and it is really tough. Any sources of these springs?
Randy, I don't have the springs and they are specialized. Are they really needed? Scott, Please PM me. Thanks Ron Frohock
