The Mclaren MP4/5B 1990 in 1/12th is next by Hiro. That will be followed by the Porsche 956 you posted. They are really busy making some superb model kits in large scale!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some new Lancia kits out from Model Project in 1/24th scale. Available from Italy and on ebay. Several decal choices available. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those Lancia kits look tasty! Still like to do the Layos Design LC1 one of these days - haven't built an LC1 since the Hi Fi kit many years ago.
Hiro is doing a FW15C Joe Honda book, so I would guess the December or early 2015 release in 1/12th scale will be a FW15C?? Also a detail up set for the Series II 1964 Ferrari GTO....Now that is funny!! Not sure what this adds yet, unless they will be pre pressing them into shape and chrome plating them. What the video shows could already be done with the kit part, although without solder so not as thick. The kit has pre shaped light frames already. Found this and others on 'bay. Really like this car, great race car. Lola T333 Looks "fisher-like". PE too. ant1969hill. Tom/anyone know who's casting this? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Tony Hill and you can find pictures from him here: Tony HILL's (ant1969hill) Library | Photobucket https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.646922828715687.1073741974.142521792489129&type=3
Some photos of the FPPM 1/24th Auto Union Type C 1936 German GP winner in the flesh. The engine is huge with wonderful detail. His models remind me of the military aircraft super detail transkits with every tiny detail molded in. It is no wonder how the Germans won everything from 1936 until WWII. The 6000+cc Auto Unions raced against 3800cc Alfa Romeo's!! Even the Mercs had over 1000cc's more than the Alfa's I like this miniature maker you pointed me toward....Immense Miniatures. Could use that on some of these old pre war models. http://www.immenseminiatures.com/products.html https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.714114128663223.1073742006.142521792489129&type=3#!/Immense.Miniatures Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can get period correct tabacco advertisements, and some kits have them in a special black plastic bag. I know military model kits have swasticas. The only place they are not allowed is Germany. Just more government censorship. I do not smoke and a Marlboro decal in a kit are not going to make me start. I am not a Nazi and a swastica in a model kit marked "for people over 18" will not make me a Nazi. The government needs to mind its own business and not do everything special interests want them to do!! If you are so weak as to start doing something because you see it in a kit you are also weak enough to believe eveything the goverment tells you, like a robot!
+1 Germany has become a nanny state. Sadly. You should see what they allow reenactment groups to do or not.
A few pictures from Immense Miniatures website. Check his Facebook page to see how he makes them, very talented. Tazio, Graham Hill, Dan Gurney, Neubauer all in several scales with more drivers and scales coming. The Monaco bridge castings are very cool. On his facebook page it showed him working on Jack Brabham and Bandini heads, so those should be soon. We should try to get him to do more 1/24th and 1/12th scale also(and 1/20th for those who build that scale). His faces are very well done. Although Neubauer looks big enough, his face looks to plump. Saw this old link for a Lotus 49 1/12th gearbox kit. Tamiya will re issue the 1/12th scale Lotus 49 kit soon, but it has a inaccurate engine and gearbox. http://www.fawcettmodelsandpatterns.co.uk/racing-car
...How they are able to keep up this kind of productivity with increasing quality blows my mind! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ever dealt with one? As a model builder I'm just getting into the whole 3D modeling and printing realm. The technology is still in its infancy and the learning curve steep. And even once you have your part ready the printer will spend the next 4 hours printing it. So just abandoning kits for 3D printing is not likely to happen. And that's not even talking costs. 3D will help and allow you to scale that elusive piece or model. It will be a symbiotic relationship
I think in the long run it will help it allowing more subjects to be realized as downloadable kits when 3D printers become less expensive. Problem is less people know how to build models now (other than in southeast Asia on a factory production line)
New from FPPM and now available, the Ferrari 330TRI 1962 Lemans winner in 1/24th scale with lift off front and rear and full engine detail. Photo only shows body, wheels and a few parts. This is a all new model not based on any of the old inaccurate Q-model and Redline 1/24th scale 330 TRI models(Redline was a copy of the Q Model). Next up will be a suprise Cooper T53 1960 F1 champion in 1/24th scale!!! He already did the 1959 Cooper. He is asking if he should do the Indy version also??? To b followed by the full detail Porsche 906 kit. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
While successful, this model Ferrari disproves the form following function ends up with a good looking car as these are just plain ugly. Pete
Hiro will do 2 1/12th scale 956 longtail versions first: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
