First 750 are taken. Final 250 will go through a review of the past applicants who can update their apps in 2018. Owning a GT helps, but you need a compelling story as well.
I was told by someone who was chosen for a second production run car they are all sold out as well. I could be wrong.
There's no way on earth I would subject myself to Ford's stupid application procedure. It's an insult. Besides, the previous GT was superior in every aspect: it looked more modern it was sexier and it was the last real sports car. I would love to drive one, but the prices are too high for what it is.
Well, congrats on not getting a car then. Make a video, get a Ford GT, and be paid probably several hundred thousand dollars in the process due to what will probably be nice appreciation. It's good for others than you think you're so above everything. They appreciated you giving them your allocation for free
That is not correct. A lot of people who were on the original Wait-List, have now been told they are on the approved list. I was at the Ford GT National Rally with Raj and the Ford GT team, and they confirmed there will be another selection for the final run of 250 cars.
It's not about me feeling superior. But making a video to get an allocation? Seriously? Did anyone actually do that? It reminds me of those kids who were the teacher's favorites in school. They were constantly bullied because the whole thing was so cringe-worthy. I don't like the new Ford GT, I don't like the stupid application process, I hate its dated design, I hate the way they had the ACO bend the rules and I would love to see one of them fly into a big solid tree at next year's Le Mans. It sounds crude, and it is, but it's my honest opinion.
I wouldn't call the new one a dated design, but that's just opinion. I love the 05/06. The new one is growing on me. As for videos, many people did just that and received cars. The application process has been beaten to death by now. If you hate the car, why bother complain about it?
I recently met a Ford executive that is building a home in my neighborhood, and he told me that he would help me with the application process. I have owned no fewer than nine Ford's over the last six years and presently have three. Additionally, I've owned my Ferrari for 25 years so he thinks that would show my intent to hang onto the car and not flip it.
"show my intent" That guy sounds like a patronizing sob. Most FoMoCo executives are idiots anyway. There's not a single product from that company that I would even consider. The Mustang should be a lean, semi-lightweight car, not the car equivalent of a fat British housewife with a double chin. That thing is the definition of bloat.
You must be offended by lines at the airport also... Except performance, weight, materials, racing pedigree (now), technology, etc, etc, etc.
For some reason this struck me the wrong way. When I lucked at your profile you must be a little kid or at best immature. I suspect that the most Ford people will be more successful than you will ever achieve at least till you have a personality shift. Ford was smart enough to make a car you would not own. Sorry for this post I normally do not react like this. I agree with the other post I had a 2005 Ford GT and it was great. Ford was trying to compete with the Ferrari of the day so I was able to talk to the engineers on a conference call and give them a well deserved pat on the back. Just great guys! Lee
Yet the Mustang 350 is quicker than $300K European exotics on the track. Go figure. It's cool that you don't like, know anything, or have any experience with Ford cars, just why bother coming to this thread to say it? BTW, the new M4 GTS (their most track oriented car) costs $135K and weighs 3600 lbs... and is slower than the Mustang. And here's the list of ****ty European cars the fat double chinned Mustang put the hurt on at Laguna Seca. Notice a certain 740hp Ferrari on that list? Perhaps a 600hp mid-engine V8 Ferrari as well? 25. Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R unknown 1:36.11 - / - 26. Ferrari 458 Italia Randy Pobst 1:36.22 570 / 1485 27. Actually, what I meant to say was "there's not a current product from Ford that I would consider." I don't hate Ford. When I was a kid I wanted my mom to buy a Ford because their engines powered the Panoz prototypes. I dislike modern Fords. The same applies to every other manufacturer today. Modern cars, the double chinned Mustang included, are too bloated and not mechanical enough. I want to feel like I am driving a machine. I don't want to feel like I'm driving a radio-controlled car. They all feel artificial. The last great Ford was the last GT. I suspect that the new Focus RS is also a pile of Appleized trash. I drove the new Fiat 124 the other day. What a giant pile of crap. Worst car I have ever driven. I felt like I was driving in a computer simulation. Zero steering feedback, just like all modern cars. Drove a Boxster. Slightly better, but still mediocre at best. etc...
Michael Murray (subject of an early post) did the whole nine yards and succeeded in snagging a Ford GT, I'm happy to say. Unfortunately, he will be waiting until to 2019. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSfQCoCW9Us Glad it finally turned out well for him. He certainly deserved an allocation.
Ford should build as many as the market will bear without changing the price. They are a bunch of morons if they don't. They could sell 5000 of these if they wanted to. Who is that Michael Murray guy?
Yea.. as long as it keeps selling... why stop? Just price it appropriately. People shouldn't be able to get 'on the list' and immediately flip for double... that's a pricing/production failure.
I am currently in the market for a pristine Ford Racing Puma, among other cars. If anyone knows of one for sale, please shoot me an email.
The application process and list was done to keep the flippers from getting a new GT. A couple may fall through the cracks and get resold, but I believe the majority are going to car lovers that will get the new GT's out into the real world, and not keep them as garage / collection queens. The application was 9 or 10 pages, with a lot of areas to talk about showing and tracking your current cars. It was obvious they want them owned by users, not the guy who has to have the latest greatest new exotic, only to sell it 3 months later when he wants a new toy.
Rec'd early this morning the "Canada Welcome Guide" for the new GT. Things are starting to now take shape. Looking forward to the journey!!
