Maybe you could let us know what the itinerary of the event might be like. It's a ways away, but might be do-oable for some of us if it looks like fun. We've got a pretty good group of lunatics with some nice rides and an out of town adventure might work. Bob
Yea!!!! I'll put a case of Diet Coke in your suite as a present! Would LOVE it if you and the car (and Angela!) would come to Richmond. I'll email you, or reach me at [email protected]
Will absolutely post details when they're worked out. We're in discussions now to bring in a special guest (or more) and want to confirm before posting. Stay tuned!
Any details available for the car show in Richmond? Thanks. JAF Life is good; it's better if you're driving a Ferrari.
Kingsmill is a great choice. Both years that we attended FOTV we stayed at Kingsmill and took advantage of the spa, the pool and the restaurant at the yacht club.
I have emailed Claudia to post details about the richmond car show there is space for 10 cars i am told but that has to be firmed up with claudia i will have her post here,Chuck
Don't own an F-car, but excited for the event(s) to unfold! Claudia, as Chris and Mr. Fortner have already suggested, I too can help with camera-work if need be. I got a lot of great shots with my old equipment at FOTV this past May, and can't wait till the next one. New camera and lenses should make for nice photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ravigill/
Thanks Ravi! We have enough cars for Richmond -- thanks to all who offered to bring their cars down for the car show. Now I must focus on the weekend's events and guests! (MONTO, come back this year and bring your car this time!!!)
Chris Schlumpf took some great photos on the Kingsmill Resort River Course last night. The cars make the course look even prettier (and vice versa). Still working on program details for the October 12 weekend, but wanted to show some progress! Thanks to Bob, Eric and Marty for the use of their cars... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Chris: Great photo! Up to your usual standards. JAF Life is good; it's better if you're driving a Ferrari.
Chris, you make it look so much better than I did last week when I put 3 balls into that GD lake off the tee. Whenever I play that course, the lake looks surf able do to my errant, and overly confidant tee shots.
I was just Sunday morning brunching with an older couple that was remarking how nice that course is. Can't wait to put a few balls in that lake myself.
Here is one we did on the 16th and another from the 17th, incredibly beautiful course. I'll have to play it one day, but with my lack of skill those greens fees would be a waste of money. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sure wish you had called me. I'd love to have had my 328 in the photos with that mix. Beautiful photos. JAF Life is good; it's better if you're driving a Ferrari.
Heehee. I have three full sets of clubs that I've just found up in (and wrapped around) trees! Diving for balls is so old school.
My wife and I participated in the first 2 FOTVs. They were run by different people. If the people running the first one are your 2 of the BEST people in 'The Business' then great. If the people running the 2nd year's event are doing this one, to me that's a different story.
Hi Stan -- I understand where you're coming from since we exchanged communications after you attended FOTV the 2nd year. Many of your disappointments -- the fast-driving event, the breakfasts, having to pay for waters, the Sunday lunch -- were all addressed at FOTV the third year. There are many reasons for the way things were run, and I take partial responsibility as the main contact. However, there were factors that the show organizers could not control. The event at Kingsmill Resort is a Ferrari-focused event, with camaraderie, great food and drink, and fun in a beautiful location. I hope the itinerary, once made public, excites you to the point of traveling to join us in Williamsburg again. Best regards, Claudia
Nice shots, Chris! The lighting seemed just about perfect. As for FOTV, the compromises that needed to be overcome were enormous, to the point that the reccomendation was to not do another event. The standards could not be met within the confines of the winery management's absentee support for the event. Kingsmill suffers none of those shortcomings and delivers on every important consideration for a successful event. Chris' pics give you a sense of what awaits us.
