Just came across this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Power-Acoustik-CP-71-Apple-CarPlay-Only-6-5-Touchscreen-Car-Stereo-Single-DIN-New/5055269224 It's from this company: https://poweracoustik.com/ However, it's not on their website. Even though Walmart doesn't have it online, they do stock it in some stores. The closest one for me is a few hours drive. Anybody have stock locally and willing to give it a review? There's zero reviews online. Looks less cheap than some of the china competitors and has actual volume buttons.
Wonder if it has an internal amp. The specs don't show it, but based on the number of pins on the back compared to some of their other offerings maybe it does. It's showing as available at a store near one of my lunch spots so I'll try to check it out tomorrow.
Have tried something very similar to it. This one though looks to be true single din Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ordered one for pickup. Not sure it will actually be picked as it had a buncha weird errors as I was checking out.
Walmart site sucks with cookies. I've had to clear them a few times for the link to show up. I think it's a hot new item as well. Here's a video I managed to find: Very little else on this unit. It must have just been released. Quick! Someone go buy them all for us
I’ll grab one tonight assuming the site is accurate and they have one close to me. Ordered for pickup. Will see what happens.
Quite the haul. I'm in Castro Valley so Stockton or Gilroy are the two closest for me. I wonder why none of the more local stores are stocking them.
Maybe it’s so new they haven’t shipped them to all stores yet. I’ll keep an eye out down here. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Here is the deal... I just put a double din Car Play unit in my wife's Ram 2500 2012 for $200. The one in the previously posted video has the same start up screens of the double din unit. The Carplay version is China manufactured and they do a decent job on it. The operating system is Android but the CAN Bus adapter works with a lot of manufacturers. So steering controls and most of the existing radio control features still work. Wireless works well. Wired works well. Trying to have them both causes confusion sometimes as it did on my wife's 2019 Porsche 718 factory system. In both cases we turned off BT and went with the wired version so her phone would charge. As to Car Play.......everything works. What absolutely does not work well is the ability to make or answer calls. The quality is rubbish but honestly.....it isn't a big deal when you just want to listen to your music. As to Navigation......they have that figured out as well but you are better off using your Iphone Maps on CarPlay. Their offline maps have to be downloaded to the head unit and they are big. 300mb per State or 6TB for the US. If you watch the aforementioned video you see that map on the screen has no streets. That's because he hasn't downloaded the maps for it which require wifi access. As I said.....this is a great way to listen to what you want. The AM/FM radio is decent and it has a built in Equalizer for the head unit. The home run is having the CarPlay interface up and working. Just don't expect the Call feature to work.
Just picked it up. Will attempt to fit it tomorrow. If it fits well, I’ll wire it up. Probably won’t get it up and going for a week or so as the car is still in pieces. I’ll take pictures once I have it fitted in the car.
I should be able to find time next week to drop it in. Normally I would leave the Ferrari logo Becker 6112 but I just upgraded to Mike's directional tweeters. Coupled with the Super Amp I need more "adjustments" than the stock deck to take advantage of the new speakers.
Went ahead and pulled the trigger myself. I was going to paint my bumper this weekend but it’s calling for rain. Might as well swap a head unit instead. I’ll report back before Monday if nobody else does.
Well… I’m happy with how it fits. I was worried it would be too large. I’ll start wiring it later today or tomorrow. Image Unavailable, Please Login
