Moviegoers can thrive on Friday the 13th films. But Jason - the real-life Jason - Jason Castriota, lives. To see him and his visions team up with Bertone is like seeing Al Pacino and Robert DiNero team up for a movie. I very anxiously await the product of their union.
Scottie, Jason Castriota used to work for Pininfarina, and is responsible for the design of the 599 GTB Fiorano, the Maserati Birdcage, and Jim's Ferrari P4/5. Jason left Pininfarina and is now with Bertone. Bertone has given us such designs as the Fiat X1/9, the 308 GT4 Dino, the Miura, the 250 GT Lusso and the Alfa BAT. Bertone is both a design house as well as a coachbuilder (Stile Bertone and Carrozzeria Bertone, respectively). In 2007, they filed for bankruptcy; in 2008, Lili Bertone, daughter-in-law to the company's founder, Giovanni, and widow to Giovanni's son Giuseppe (Nuccio), sold the company to Domenico Reviglio, founder of the Gruppo Prototipo who is the owner of the Nardo test track. Jason's presence at at Bertone will breathe new and different life into this world-renowned company. I'm really looking forward to it.
I've seen the original buck in their (PF) warehouse. What's really cool is that it has the 330 LMB nose buck added on top of the GTL's original nose.
Carbon meant the Bertone 250 SWB shown in the video, not the Pininfarina designed standard Lusso. Some steel SWBs meant only for street use were called Lussos back then. That particular Bertone SWB is one of the most beautiful designs of all time. Taz Terry Phillips
Thanks Jim. I was a bit hesitant about checking out the link at the office thinking it may get blocked.
Terry offered me a nice way out, but I lament admitting that I thought the Lusso was penned by Bertone and fabricated by Scaglietti. I guess I'm wrong. In looking at some pictures of Lussos, I see that only some of them have coachbuilder badges, but none of my pictures are large enough where I can zoom in and see the Carrozzeria's badge clearly enough. Thank you, Terry, but I was misinformed. However, the car you mentioned should be mentioned. It's gorgeous...!!! In fact, there are two Bertone 250 GT SWBs - 1739 GT and 3269 GT (pictured below, respectively). I like 3269 GT more. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nothing can still top the Carabo design. Without that design alone we wouldn't have a lot of the cars on the road we have today.
