This time of year I believe they are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Current display is "Evolution of the Supercar". My pictures above give you the idea.
My sister lives in Newport within walking distance of this museum. I'll be there next weekend and would love to say hello to fellow Newport car guys. PM me if anyone's interested in meeting for coffee or a beer or something. JP
You may actually want to become a member there. They have events there like the other night when they had the launch party for the new display. The ice sculpture of the McLaren was particularly cool.
I stopped in yesterday. Impressive place. Worth a look! Very kid-freindly, not stuffy or anything. Guy at the front desk was very welcoming. Gave my stepson a hat and gave us some insight on the collection- seems to be a few collectors contributing cars to the showroom. There is some serious hardware on display. I drooled over the F40 for a while. JP, I'd be happy to meet up with any of the locals. PM me any time.
Never heard of it before but just drove by while vacay in newport to tour mansions with wife. Looks really good and will visit tomorrow along with tennis hall of fame which is right next door
Went today and loved it. Never heard of king cobra before. Midengined cooper is amazing idea from shelby. And the ferrari 550 race car recreation was pretty nutty too. Highly recommend a visit
The owner is itchin' to take the 550 back so he can hit the track! If you are standing next to it when fired up be sure to cover your ears.
It's easiest to just go to the first post of this thread and click on the link to the museum. and let us know what's there now - Art
The current exhibit is Speed Machines. You can always check on their website. Here is a link to the current exhibit. Explore Speed Machines | Audrain I am planning on heading down Friday when I visit a friend for lunch in Newport.
It's not in the museum now so the owner probably has it back. "being held hostage" makes it sound like the owner of the car wasn't being allowed to get his car back, do you know that to be the case?
