Just purchased a 458 that had this Adaptiv system in it. It is horrific. The GPS is stuck on and I can't turn it off. I can't get music to play through it. The touch pad has a mind of its own and works about 50% of the time and never when the car is moving! I'm actually investigating the cost of having this virus removed from my car.

You can shut it down so it's not on without removing it, I can't remember how to do it as I had it stripped out but, there is a way of exiting it and then you can use the car normally as it does not replace the factory system just adds to it.

Thanks PTG1 for the advice. I’ll ask my local dealer how to shut it down.

Hello! I have this system but new to the car!!! Currently I have the OEM navigation on with key start but seem to have the centre console thing giving me constant directions etc... how do I access the centre console navigation screens from startup??? Your advice would be much appreciated as it's driving me mad!!

What a shame...such a good opportunity wasted. Well for now at least. I assume its still a buggy mess?

I am in the UK and looked into this genuine ferrari upgrade but can't see its worth the money. A bovee linked to a smartphone running Google maps and Spotify works far better. A specialist car Audio company can do a very high end sound upgrade. Which involves and amp or 2 depending on your budget, high quality door speakers and dash tweeters with crossovers. And lots of sound deadening in the doors. I have a system like this in another car or mine and the sound quality is unbelievable your looking at between £2400 and £3400 in the UK

Yes it goes in the ipod plug and you can use Google maps and Spotify through your speakers although you have to operate it from your phone. I have Samsung it works well but drops the connection if you switch to another source or every time you turn the car off but doesn't take a few seconds to manually reconnect. I believe it works a lot better with Apple

Soo, very old thread and sorry for resurrecting it.
But would it be possible to somehow get Apple CarPlay on the upgraded system? It seems like the software is utter rubbish but maybe it can be adapted for Apple CarPlay instead?

Hi. I have fitted this - was a bit more involved than I was lead to believe, but not too difficult. One cable runs to the right screen cluster. The other cables connect behind the head unit. It uses the oem microphone. I ran the antennae below the glovebox and above the carpet cover. You do need to remove the top shelf part of the glovebox as this space becomes occupied by the CarPlay unit. I boxed that in with a flock black box I made up to match the glovebox. It works very well and makes a huge difference with maps, Waze, music and messages all working as expected. You can even use the steering wheel buttons to skip songs and change volume. I am happy with it

Did you buy the one from mysupercarexpert and are you saying their install video isn’t fully explanatory? That video makes it seem you plug everything into the back of the head unit and mount the CarPlay unit on top of it. Doesn’t mention running any wires to dash and doesn’t mention needing to modify the glovebox.

I also ordered this system. Yes, the video cable has to go to the instrument cluster. The system is a bit tight to install so I will give it to a pro. I am not a very good DIYer but it should be no problem to install for people with some experience.

Good thing is you can write them an e-mail if you need support and they usually answer the next day. They even have a 458 there so they could take pics inside the car if you have any questions.

Hope to get it installed by next week.

Hi. Yes from them. They actually have a newer YouTube video (v2) that shows running the cable to the cluster and using the car’s microphone. Modifying the glovebox I found out when I tried to put it all back together and there is no room. It is obvious when you realise the CarPlay unit sits on top of the head unit - and that is exactly where the recess shelf in the glovebox is …. They do say you can put the CarPlay unit behind the aircon panel but I couldn’t see enough space there. The glovebox shelf is easy to remove - just 2 screws but then you see the CarPlay unit and wires every time you open the glovebox so I made a small box to cover that up! The loss of the shelf for me is outweighed by the functionality of having CarPlay.

This is the shelf I had to take out - the bottom of this shelf lies flush on top of the head unit - therefore no room to squeeze the CarPlay box between the two

Ok thanks for that. I agree losing the shelf is a small price to pay to gain this capability. We plan a lot of rallies and I need to be able to see my maps up on the dash. I didn’t really want to put a GPS on the windshield.
Do you have a link to the updated YouTube video for install?
