Cut and polish with the buffer today - noice and shawny now. Actually, it's come up like new (apart from the rust spots)

Nope, not rust. That is "corrosion enhancement".

What's a realistic % in price difference between the A/T and a Manual gearbox 400i?

How different are gray market vs US cars?

Sounds like you got a fun car. Enjoy!

No such thing as a US car. They were all grey market.

    Realistic price difference? Oh, I don't know...probably 40 to 50%.

Sure Pap, got some on my phone. Which do you want, the one on the side of the road covered from stem to stern with little drops of green cordial, the top hose blown completely apart like a vulcanised taco, or the obligatory tow truck shot?

That doesn't sound like fun! Time for some new hoses. I managed to find some in super cheap the right diameter and trimmed them to length. The only one I couldn't get is the one from the top engine outlet to the thermostat and of course this one is not cheap through Ferrari spare part suppliers.

I think I might have some spare hoses lying around at home from the C4, possibly the top hose. I'll have a look later when I get home

Ta Greg. The mood I'm in right now, I feel like taking to it with an axe. BTW, the handling improved when I addressed the LF tyre which had 11psi - should sell it to Moretti

Welcome to the 365/400/400i/412 club! You'll get used to feeling like that since it will happen often. BUT every once in a while all 12 will function perfectly, the exhaust will sound like a symphony, and you'll forget all about the trouble times.

Yes. Finish at lunch time, then home via Supercheap/Repco to find a hose that's close enough to get by on (and something to suck the coolant out of the spark plug wells)

Thanks Dave. The exhaust is on my list - it's been replaced, but sounds more like a truck (from the inside), so another job to get the sound right - one day

Let me tell you about the time I had a get away weekend at a swanky resort planned with the Mrs. It was going to be a weekend of romantic dinners and hot sex. The Mrs bought a new sexy dress, looked like a million when she slid in to the passenger seat. I backed out of the drive, we were happy. I got just far enough from the house that I needed a tow truck to bring me home when the hose from the heater control valve blew and spewed antifreeze all over the windshield.
