Unfortunately they do. Interventional day today, loads of spine injections and breast localisations. Lots of carrying on and screaming
Anyway, the engine was supposedly done by someone in Sydney, on or before 2004 (11,000 km ago), and the PPI found it to be pretty good, with no leaks or smoke. Hopefully I'll get the details with the history file (maybe they put in HC pistons!), but I think it'll be good enough. There's lots written on the self levelling system of the later cars, but not much on the simpler system the early cars use - hopefully because nothing goes wrong with them - anybody? And I'm still concerned about the cost of the TRX setup, so that'll be the first thing I tinker with. Also, the vendor (belatedly) told me that the locks are buggered - is that a common fault (with a simple fix) in these cars?
are the load levelers the same as those on the 365 series? I had them replaced on the C4 with the Koni coil over shock (bought through Rutlands) and worked well. Eurospares and Superformance have the locks.
Apparently the same - the Series 2 onward had the hydraulic set up. I'll have to have a peek inside the doors to see what he was talking about - I understand there's a little plastic part that can break.
I owned a 412A and a 412 5 speed and hated the auto but loved the stick. Three speeds is just not enough for a Ferrari. Both look great and handle well despite their weight. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks, Robert, that's the sort of feedback I'm looking for. BTW, I had some great times in Chapel Hill NC, back in the day!
They are 2 very different cars. One isn't better than the other, they are just very different. The manual boxed car is "zippier" and more performance oriented, while the auto car seemed more like a powerful luxury GT car.
He's too lazy to fly over and drive it back...so it's on the back of a truck....I'll bet the truck drivers' are having some fun...
Should arrive tomorrow, but I'm too busy to go and get it for a while. You and I are workers, Pap - unlike guys like Klink, who seem to be endlessly galavanting around the country. I couldn't afford the $3K fuel bill
I'm not "on here", I'm saving the lives of sun-worshipping dumb-arses like you! I check out idiotic comments between cases.
Going out tomorrow to see it. Some logistical issues picking it up, but can arrange the rego through my dealer mate, then the long TLC process begins...
