There's a program on my computer called Nero Express - I'm hoping someone here is more familiar with it than I. Nero Express allows me to burn media to CDs - music, videos, pictures, etc. I have burned pictures to discs in the past using this program and have very recently burned music to a disc. But Nero, for some reason, after multiple tries over the last month, will not successfully burn pictures to a disc. It's driving me absolutely nuts because I can't figure out what the problem is. The music burns fine, works fine - no problem. But the pictures are a different story... When I can actually get the program to successfully complete the process, there are no pictures on the disc... Just a bunch of folders; in one of the folders, entitled SEGMENT, there are a bunch of .dat files... I assume these are, what once were, the pictures I'm attempting to burn... However, these images as .dat files can no longer be opened... So what am I doing wrong...?
I am still having trouble with that software...The problem might be that Nero doesnt work with certain image files, f.e .jpg .bmp....those work for sure. But what i think it is, is that sometimes your pics when you burn them and you look at what files you are going to burn, their is a file that is not a pic, and i think sometimes nero doesnt read that file so it just doesnt record it. The other problem that i thought it could be is your DVD/CDR drive's burning speed...sometimes it doesnt let me burn, because the speed that i have nero to write on is faster than what my cdr/dvd drive can go, so it might that maybe. But i am no computer expert, i just mess around with it. Hopefully, someone can get you through the problem. John
Swap over to something dumb and mass market like Roxio Easy CD/DVD ..... backup copies can be put in the post
At some point either you are saying yes to, or asking Nero to build you a "Picture CD" or a you are asking it to burn you a Movie/Picture DVD of some type. This is not what you want. Nero will go and make a slideshow of your pics designed to run in most DVD players or on most computers. When starting up Nero, chose the option to make a "Data" disc and go from there. Bill
The problem with Nero is that it's garbage. I used to use it, but version 6 would break for no particular reason. One day it would rattle off anything. Next morning, nothing would work. Tech suppport would have me change values in the registry, add keys, delete others to make it work...and then it would break for no particular reason some other time. Junk. I switched to Roxio and no longer have problems. Go figure.
When I used to use Windows I used Nero exclusively + a few small open source programs. Roxio sucks, I just couldn't get used to the bloat, especially in Toast. Oh well, I always used Nero Burning ROM.
Roxio would never let me make 'backup' copies of my Windows 98 CD, but Nero does, and I've never had a problem with Nero. Hint to all: If you need new burning software, don't shop for software, shop for a new burner as they usually have software bundled with them for a price cheaper than the software alone. They wanted $90 for Nero, but I got a new Memorex 52X burner AND Nero for $80, but it was a couple of years ago, and I'm still using it today.
I'm having issues with my Nero also....When I burn the vids, they come out with crappy audio(crackling sounds on higher pitch notes). Sucks, it only does this when burning DVDs.....
You're probably trying to make it into a VCD like said before. Use the "Make Data CD" function and it should work fine. This is how I back everything up on my computer and I've never had problems.
yeah, but I'm trying to actually make a playable DVD for a DVD player. It'll burn the disc, but just the audio is messed up
i use IRFANVIEW FOR PICS, and Nero for burning. never had any isues. my NEC burner recently started freaking out, the "firmware" would not work with the new DVD-R discs i bought..... make sure your burner is working properly under Device Manager, and use Nero in the "DATA CD" setting as stated several times above. .dat pic files can be converted to .bmp or .jpg as needed. i know IRFANVIEW will do it in batches. ( IrfanView is free too )
