Quite simply it is all part of the 'seven circles' of accessibility. ;)
Something similar happened with other paint colors like Grigio GTS. That color was restricted to the new 812 GTS. Some also connected that color with the older Grigio Coburn paint. The Blu Corsa was another example of restricted availability initially for other orders. It simply gives buyers a unique paint color others don't (initially at least) have access to. With over 250 shades of red paint available through tailor made choices; the delay is possible to work around sooner.

Wondering if you already placed your spec, what you ended up doing, if not if you would like some additional thoughts?

Here are some of my thoughts-

First off, get the color you love the most. You’ll regret it if you compromise here.

1). Leather steering wheel handgrips versus alcantara. The center of the wheel, dash, and the top of the doors all must be Nero leather. None of those leather areas can be swapped. Other than that, the entire interior will be alcantara except a Nero technical fabric headliner.

I suggest keeping the steering wheel all leather. Alcantara is a great thought, it looks more racy, but in use, it will get a bit clammy feeling, it will absorb oils from your hands. Driving gloves are almost mandatory. I know you want to go more sporty, but my take is go for the easier to live with leather.

2). Yellow outline of the racing seats. The extra dash of yellow is certainly “sporty”, but is it too much yellow. I also have the new style headrest shield, plus yellow center stripe on steering wheel, yellow dreamlines on the pedal, and yellow stitch accents. Note, the seats look like gray stitching in the render, but they will be all black. They adjust render to simply highlight the checks.
I dont think it’s too much yellow. I like how it compliments your other highlight areas. One thing to think about is the yellow stitch on the upper dash areas- I realize this continues the line from the doors- but this will likely show reflections on the windshield. Especially with the black dash.

3). Livery options. I have thought long and hard about selecting a livery which would probably help nudge it in the direction of sporty. I thought about a “ghost stripe” approach where I select an even darker red. Or perhaps a slightly lighter red. I would probably have to go flat as to not mix metallic stripe with flat base paint. Or I could go black livery.

I would suggest sticking with the one color. You already have some nice contrast between the dark red and yellow. And don’t forget you have the black areas, which add contrast.

One other thought is having a dedication plate- it helps give the interior a little extra bespoke feeling. You could put a favorite quote or your initials or even the date you did the build.

Solid advice. I have since decided to go all leather for the wheel, although I did discover that you can go 100% Alcantara on the wheel itself even with the LED’s. Of course, the center of the wheel remains leather which somewhat defeats some of the purpose.

I have also decided to keep all the yellow accents on the interior despite some rather hefty costs. Just the yellow dreamlines on the seats are a $12,166 option! Yikes.

It’s hard to not go for the carbon as it shows off the engine so nicely, and the car is all about the engine. But it adds up.

Good luck with your build, let us know how it turns out!

One final thought, on color, I know you said you want to have a flat color, but if you are looking for a metallic that would be in a similar place, Rosso Magma is a great choice, but a little less bright would be Rosso Maranello. The Magma has more metallic flake and more of a show car type color. The Maranello is a little more subdued, the metallic isn’t quite as prominent and is a lovely color. Just something to consider.

While I certainly agree that the carbon engine compartment looks glorious, I have not missed that option in either my former 812 SF or my current 812 GTS. With my 12C spec already absurdly pricey, I had to draw the line some where. Of course, to be fair, I don’t exactly know what the price is. The Ferrari price guide and the Atelier price document show:

$5,562 - CEFB - Carbon Fiber Filter Box Cover
    $11,992 - CEL2 - Engine Covers In Carbon Fiber

While the order guide shows a completely different option code:

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

If the $11,992 gets you the full carbon engine, that’s still more than I want to spend, but if it requires both options for $17,5xx that’s way more.

    Yes,
the line has to be drawn somewhere. And I’m not adding that. I’m probably crazy to have any carbon exterior parts, but oh well…

The UK pricelist in GBP for these options:

    £7,700 for CEL2 ($9,784 USD)
    £3,600 for CEFB ($4,574 USD)

So $14,358 total cost for the two options, which is a lot of money for something only your service technician will see once a year :)

Those yellow dreamlines on the seats would go a long way towards that carbon trim for the engine compartment. As to value for money only you can make that decision. What you have created so far looks amazing, thanks for sharing your adventures in Ferrari Land here!

I almost didn't post a view as the first picture had the wrong extension and would not load. It was a slightly different view that worked the second time. Most of the Ferrari press cars had the carbon trim for the engine compartment. That carbon covers a large underhood area; more room for signatures than previous designs. Only one 12 Cilindri didn't have the carbon trim pieces, that I saw...

The base car is $459,000 and then with tons of options the additional cost is $200,000.

    Its not a special limited
nor is it a convertible which typically retain value and resist huge depreciation.

Just trying to be a voice of reason.

Tailor made is now working on the night time constellation of the year of your birth. At RR they have a team of techs who inly do the fiber optic plannjng amd detail work in the sky roof. And you can have this options on the door panels too!
