Ok what about finding a low mileage Alfa 8C???
Totally off the wall, but what about a Morgan Aero SS? http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/sales/supersport_2010/supersports.html last I heard they're under 200k.
I drove one of those recently, asking price was $75k. They are cool looking and sound great, but they are an awful car. Could not wait to get out of it! Matt
Here're my opinions on some of the cars in this thread: SL65 Black Series - Overpriced for what it is. Plus, it's still a Benz badge. R8 - Fantastic car... but you can do better for the price GranTurismo - Amazing looking/sounding/driving car; a bit slow in comparison to some of the others listed. Panamera - I'm the only one in the world (other than the designer) who loves the look. SLS - Growing on me. I'd rock one. I think the OP should get a GranTurismo S.
Another one: Nissan R35 GT-R Insanely quick, no manual , has rear seats, will be serviceable by dealer and it's much cheaper than what you want to spend. I just saved you some money!
+1 the GT-R would make a great dd. Some dct seem to better than others. I would at least test drive a GT-R to see what you think. You may end up finding the perfect dd for a lot less than 200K.
I suspect it's not "rare and exclusive" enough for the OP... ...and given his profession he doesn't need your advice on how to save money! ...sir. Has anyone mentioned the Alfa 8C? Anyone, anyone... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxPVyieptwA[/ame]
I am thinking more and more that the MB SLS is the one for me. It seems to combine what I am looking for the best. I would buy the Maserati if it had a larger engine. Matt
The SLS AMG is a great looking car, there was one here locally but the owner parted with it shortly after buying it. I am not sure what he didn't like about it though. Have you considered a new BMW M6? They are going to have a 600 horsepower twin turbo V-8 and would fit in that price range.
The SLS is a stunning car. It's an extremely charismatic machine. Other than the 599, there is no other GT car in that price range that I'd rather own. You might enjoy this blog entry Chris Harris made on EVO--> http://community.evo.co.uk/users/Monkey-Harris/blogs/index.cfm/2011/8/19/CHRIS-HARRIS-1500mls-in-the-SLS-incl-Ring-video (the last paragraph in particular). I was fortunate enough to drive an SLS for a weekend and I was very impressed. It's extremely usable, it looks and feels very special, it's full of character, it sounds great, goes like a bullet, it isn't excessively flashy (until the doors go up...) and it's a blast to drive. The M156 (AMG'S NA 6.2 V8) is a true gem and it feels better than ever in the SLS. IMO it's one of the best looking cars of the past several years. I really do have a soft spot for the SLS. I have been driving my 360 a lot more lately. Driving the truck is getting old but I have been out of town for a week so I not had much time to look for a car. I should be able to pick one out next week, I hope. Matt
Just wrapped up a deal to buy this car. Hope to have it within a couple of weeks. Matt Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I also love the SLS and it blends perfection in a daily driver exotic type GT. That or 599 or Cali would be my choice as well. I also like the upcoming Maserati GT MC Stradale which is lighter and faster than the Maserati GT-S. For me, I want a Ferrari or Lamborghini as my next car since the M3 is perfect as my DD. Drove the Gallardo and Murcielago and need to drive the 599, F430 and 458 Italia to make a decision between Ferrari and Lamborghini.
