Hello. I would love to get some expert opinions on this F12, so please help. Here it is..

    https://tinyurl.com/k9jevr7

It is at the dealer in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It is on consignment, the dealer says.

As usual with a used car that someone else ordered, there are my likes and dislikes. Also attached is the window sticker

    Likes
    1. It is my favorite exterior color
    2. Low miles
    3. color of brake calipers
    4. wheels
    5. no carbon fiber- except on the back of the race seats
    6. chrome grill

    Dislikes
    1. Asking price seems way too high. Asking $320K for a 4 yr. old car that stickered for $363K seems ridiculous. I think the consignor is just "fishing" for a "gotta have it now" type of buyer. I am not that kind of buyer. Maybe the car is worth $280K, I think?? What do you think? That interior color with that red carpet will probably make it harder to sell?

    2. Little, if any, warranty left

    3. Not sure about the Crema interior. It might be too light of a color for me. My Maserati Granturismo has Sabbia interior (love it), so hopefully Crema is not lighter than that? I just can't do a white interior.

    4. I had a serious back operation about 5 years ago, so not sure if the race seats will provide enough cushioning? Do they?

    Minor dislikes
    1. Yellow tach
    2. Shields

This car is about 4 hours drive away from me, so I'd like to agree on a approx. price first. The sticker on this car was $363K. see attached. I guess the "special features" of $13K was probably the Rubino paint job? Triple layer paint, I think the salesman mentioned.

What should I look for? I see the thread on here about the blistering paint on where the body meets the mesh vents. I have never owned a Ferrari before. I tried to order a new F12 last year from the Orlando, FL dealer, but they said no.

Except for the race seats and the paint job, doesn't look like there are any significant upgrades. What is the "painted inner insert" for $3K? Never heard of that one before.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for a reply!

Dave, I am not going to help with your question about value. If you love it I imagine you can work out something reasonable with the seller(s).

I think it is one of the most attractive F12s I have seen. I love both the exterior and interior colors. Crema may not be the most in-demand leather color, but I have it on my Maranello - also with red stitching - and I get compliments everywhere I go. Obviously, what people find attractive is subjective, but I think this one really pops. If I was the devil on your shoulder I would say 'buy it' before someone else does. If I was looking for one I'ld be all over it.

    Good luck with your search.

What I can tell you is about the criteria I followed when I selected and bought my F12b after following for many months an universe of more than 25 cars. Like you've done, I also wrote a list with the likes and dislikes for every car and when comparing different F12b's between each other in terms of prices, I always looked at the main depreciation factors which are millage and age.

From the beginning the factor cost wasn't for me the most critical one as far as I could find a F12b that suited my taste in terms of exterior and interior color combinations and options. For the year of manufacturing I established as well the lower limit in 2014 and for the maximum mileage only looked at cars with less than 10K miles.

Many F12b available in Europe passed through my radar but for a long time every car I looked didn't fulfill my criteria but I kept repeating to myself that I only would buy the car that fully reached my expectations. Like I mentioned before and after a search which took 8 months, that car appeared last February and I didn't hesitate a second and bought it. Because this F12b is from 2014, I put to the seller as a purchasing condition that the car had a two years extended warranty valid until 2019 and he accepted it straight away.

Now when I look back and think what would have happened if I didn't have the patience, many times times difficult to control, of waiting for the right opportunity to pop up. Most certainly I would have bought a F12b that didn't fulfill completely my expectations and I'm sure I would have regretted it for life. Afterwards every time I contemplated another F12b I really liked I would draw the inevitable comparisons arriving to the conclusion that I could have done better. Just o finalize, my single advice to you is only buy the car that you really like despite of what everyone might say.

PS- Mine has the racing seats and they are very comfortable on long journeys. My wife has back problems and never heard her complaining about the seat.

    Good luck…...

You should try those race seats. They are very harsh and not very supportive at the same time, but they look way better than Daytona seats. I love it but I wouldn't want to daily it or long distance driving. If it's a weekend toy, drive to the coffee shop and go to the bar kinda stuff, I would choose those race seats in a heart beat. If not, I wouldn't even think about it.

Seats are very subjective. I actually think the race seats feel great and have no problem with them. I don't find them very harsh at all. Best way to find out is to actually sit in the car. If you're spending North of $300k on a car, a couple hour drive to check it out isn't much.

Love the spec. Low miles and great colors. Race seats a big plus IMO.

Bottom line is car is somewhat unique and if you love it then go for it. Fair price IMO is $290K range. Make an offer and see what happens.

BTW dealers do not want these in inventory and I would wager wholesale money is mid $200K range as a consequence. Consignment sales are tough though as seller may not be realistic

Gonna have to sit in it and drive. Having a bad back is not the same as having recent major back surgery. The latter may need some more padding. Try the full electric as a comparison. Also, color, condition and history matter over age. Mileage sadly matters most. Good luck.

Dealer now says there is no warranty left. He will add one year for $6K or two years for $10K extra.

As I mentioned before, I got the 2 years extra included in the final price of the car and in my opinion that's the least they can offer in a car of that price.

Same exterior color as my F12, so agree with you about the color! I have the darker cuio interior leather tho.

As far as the price goes, here's my experience buying both new and used cars. The only way to test whether a seller will take a certain price is to make a firm offer, and be prepared to walk away if they don't accept it.

If you're not at the point where you can make a firm offer, do what you need to do to get there.

You don't necessarily have to take the indicated selling price seriously, but you have to make a serious and firm counteroffer if you want to challenge it.

In this case though I don't think the guy will have a huge amount of room. My guess is that the final price will have a 3 handle.

Best of luck with it - it's a great car and I wouldn't worry too much about the warranty.

Is a PPI (pre-purchse inspection) needed if it's a recent <5 yr old but out of warranty Ferrari sold at a Ferrari dealership?

Very nice!!!! Here are some thoughts/ comments/ suggestions

    1. It is my favorite exterior color - gorgeous!

    2. Low miles - Important if you are going to not drive it too often, these cars don't melt if you cross 10k miles, in fact the more you drive them, the better they are! But their market value is affected.

    Commentary:
You are probably right about what the car is worth right now. I don't know, but I suspect it could be worth even a little less than you estimate. It seems asking prices are holding firm around this level. But I hear transaction prices are lower. (Thats almost always the case). The interior color is beautiful, and I think the red carpet and stitch don't look nearly as harsh in real life as they often do in photographs. However, the entire combination on this car won't be to everyone's liking. Thus, it is worth considering if you are not planning to keep this car for a long time. If you decide the car is not for you, you could be looking at selling at a discount to the market to move it along.

My reaction to the situation is maybe offer them $300k for the following:
a- the car and all accessories etc
b- Fresh "TLC" (my term) service: motor oil, filter, and brake fluid change
    c- 2 year extended warranty
d- if necessary transport to your home.

When it comes to the seats, you really have to try them out and you should try them while driving the car. Given your circumstance, its not just the seats themselves, its the suspension and the way the car handles bumps. I think the F12 rides very well, for a Ferrari. Its not a Bentley. For what it's worth, I find the race seats to be more comfortable than the electric "luxury" seats, but in terms of padding, the luxury seats do offer more.

There are elements of the Ferrari experience which are more difficult than with other brands, but I think its more than worth it. And I also think you are have made an exceptionally good choice with the F12b. I hope it works out!

You guys are great! Thanks so much!

I have been waiting a long time for the exact right car to buy, once it dawned on me that I was too late to order a new F12. But now I fear that the perfect car will never happen, so I have to compromise, I guess. The exterior color on this car under consideration is perfect, but the interior color is not. My dream interior is this...see below.. I did it on the configurator a few years ago...

The interesting thing about seating, once you have had a lot of back pain and then had a "two-level spinal fusion" surgery on your back, to fix it, as I have, is that the contour of the seat bottom is almost as important as the padding. In that respect, I am optimistic about these race seats, as the contour looks promising.

Are you interested in maybe selling me your car? I really want an interior color that is closer to yours.

As background information...I will keep forever the F12 I buy, whenever I do buy it. I love Italian sports cars. I am 61 years old. I used to own American muscle cars (usually new Corvettes) until I bought the Maserati Granturismo as a new car in 2012. I still have it and it now has 20K miles on it. I will never sell it. Blu Oceanu (similar to Tdf Ferrari color). Not one thing has broken on the car in 4 1/2 years.

My "bucket list" sports car Italian addiction is, and has been, the following 3 cars.."a Tour of Italy". LOL.

    1. Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in a dark red exterior color. I can also do Vinaccia or Mugello, in addition to the Rubino metallic.
    2. Lamborghini Huracan in the "Verde Ermes" exterior color with a brown/black interior. I have test driven it and loved it.
    3. Keep the Maserati I already own, in dark blue.

Working on car #2 right now.

BTW, I test drove a Ferrari FF a few years ago and it was, by far, the best sports car I have ever driven. Very impressed.

Could anyone familiar with ebay contact that seller about the exact colour name? They say Mugello but that's metallic, so not Mugello. Maybe Maranello? It's nice but somehow a much more ordinary spec than the OP one.

I had not previously considered selling, but possibly. (As it happens, I'm relocating within the US in the next year or so, and have to make a few decisions of the "bring with me or sell" variety.) Would be happy to talk about it if you are interested, just PM me. I've posted some pics of my F12b on the F12 pics thread over the last year or so if it would be helpful to check those out.

I've looked at the Lauderdale car. Nice car but does have the paint issues around the rear air vents - at least it did 4 weeks ago. Was surprised they didn't fix it before they put it on the floor.

I will be self serving and suggest my car:

Probably one of the highest optioned cars in the US. Not your color but unique car. $441K MSRP.

Amazing car. Decided I wanted a Russo Scuderia.

Interior with the red carpet looks like a rolling hearse for an Italian mafia don. But hey, it's your call, if you like it, go for it.

Waiting for what you want is always best, assuming your expectations are realistic and you're not waiting for over a year. How long would you wait on a new car to be built? Same thing.

Amazing build ... except the light leather wheel and light carpets. Black cars need darker carpets and a black wheel to go with all the carbon and the exterior color.

Keith, I'm not an Italian Mafia Don but I've owned a California with precisely that combination, Nero exterior and interior all in cuoio. I can assure you that when you see it alive, aesthetically this combination has a great positive impact and IMO results well. The only drawback and it's a major one, is the fact that the Nero black exterior looks great the moment immediately after being washed but some minutes after a simple finger print and a bit of dust, spoil it all and it is almost impossible to maintain a car pristine a car with this color. If you can live with that my advice is go for this one because is very well optioned.

This car is 260-270k. Not much wholesale price history except that a year ago, 5/16, similar car with same mileage sold for 286. Figure 10% deprecition since then. You can be aggressive on pricing. Used car market not doing so well these days
