I've also been looking for a good used one, a Snap-on or a Mac-Tools, on CL, and I'm amazed at the asking prices. $300 -500 seems like the going rate. I don't mind spending the $$ but I want to be sure I'm getting a fair deal. The digital rpm, dwell and advance readouts are certainly useful. Any opinions, recommendations out there?

I'm looking for more features than those provide but I'm not going to spend $300 on a Snap-on unit either.

The Snap-On MT-2261 is a great timing light that can be found used on eBay for less than $150. I've been useing this light for many years now...and it work great.

    Features:
    -Very bright light
-Has no trouble accurately triggering, even when useing an MSD ignition
    -Built-it digital tach
-Digital advance unit (very nice feature to verify timing specs throughout the rev range)

    Worth looking into...

Being that the MT-2261 is a "Blue Point" branded product it is made for Snap on by an outside vendor. The one advantage with the blue point product is parts and repair support where as you might not get that from Equus.

As for a recommendation for a timing light?? I don't have one as I hardly have a need for one as most bikes have fixed base timing therefore the requirement for a high quality timing light is not needed. On a bike if the base timing mark does not line up or the advance mark when you rev it up you replace the box.
