Could be a steal, or a nightmare.
Light blue '55 TBird at St Pat's Church in CB this morning.
Leaving church....Red Viper GTS coupe (gen 1) going west on the Kanesville split @ Frank Street...again in CB (yeah, lot's of Vipers in this town).
You almost had one (me). PM me for details.
Do you think they'll use the $20k to buy a new camera?
I was ranting - that's how I deal with a crappy situation.
What is sad is, 25 years ago I had $20,000 worth of camera gear, today: largely worthless.
OTOH, you could have spent weeeeeell into 6 figures for a 328 about 21 years ago which would now be worth.....
SIX figures for a 328?
I don't think so.
FIVE figures maybe, but not six.
My only solace is I sold my two long lenses for more than I paid for them in 1988 &1992.
That was about $12,500 I didn't lose.
Didn't see this! Whaaaaaaaat???
Oh yes they were. I'll consult my DuPont's when I can. Remember the timeframe, there was an exotic car bubble, and sellers such as Steve Ooley were selling Anniversary Countach's for half a mil.
Post 103, tee hee.
any of you guys know if there is an active "cars 'n coffee" (or similar) in Omaha?
There was an event like it a couple years ago near the Hyvee on Maple, not sure if it's there anymore.
hmmm, ok... any idea who originally organized it?
I'm not sure if they still hold this event each week or not. I went a few times a couple years ago but there is a serious lack of european sports cars. It is primarily american muscle and corvette although one week there was a Lambo.
There are three or four, but you MIGHT see ONE true exotic at ONE of them.
Not sure of the nights anymore, but the old standard is the Wednesday night one two blocks south of 82nd and Center.
There was/is another on 84th and Park Drive, there was/is one on 90th north of Maple, in front of Harbor Freight.
I read on here there was/is one in the Hy-Vee parking lot on 156th and Maple. (?)
The BEST one was on 76th and Military, until some jackoff showed up with a gun. That one ended that night, about five years ago.
When you say 'weeeeel into six figures', you do realize that means around $750,000????
And, a 328 is not a Countach.
thanks, we're just trying to sketch something similar together in Lincoln... I'm connected to the BMWCCA and MBCA, and MCA... but just trying to sort out the best way to promote it.
we do a euro cruise-in twice every summer at Sonic, but something a little more regular might be fun... and I really don't care what cars are there, as long as they are nice and well kept.
heck, all I have to offer right now is a 51K-mile BMW 128i...
Das, my advice would be, just pick a day and time, and if people show up, fine, and if not, fine, but never EXPECT people to show up.
This will work because folks can do it if they want - they know what day it is (say, every Tuesday between 6 and sundown at a predetermined location, hopefully near a bar or restaurant).
When you do it like this, nobody has to write it on a calendar, or call someone to see if they are going, etc. if it's Tuesday, you have the option of showing up. Or not. No biggee if you don't.
Most shows I have seen end about 20 minutes before sundown - because a lot of guys want to get home before sundown, when all the bugs seem to come out. They don't want to have to scrub the front of their cars when they get home. And others; their electrical systems may need work.
Once you develop a following, then you can choose possibly a better location. Also, if you do this, YOU need to go thru the lot picking up bottles, cans and trash after 'the show' is over, or you won't be welcome where you meet. Bring a trash bag. Most people are good about this, some are not.
You also need to ask management for approval, say you will attract a good following, it may bring business in, and you will clean up at the end. If you don't, the cops may show up and boot you all, then what? There has to be a 3/4 empty lot near 27th and Pine Lake Road, IMO that would be the best location, else, somewhere near 66th and O.
Red S3 Espada w/a sunroof is Craig's car. He's got it on eBay right now. Great price, someone should jump on it and keep it here. He also has a white Espada (which I posted pics of from last summer's show at the botanical gardens), had a Jalpa, and may have other's that I'm not aware of.
From YOUR perspective.
Gee no kidding. Keep your pants on, I'll get to the ads when I can.
What does 'well into six figures' mean in YOUR book????
100,000, 200,000 300,000 400,000 isn't 'well into', it's 'the lower end' of six figures.
'Well into' usually means halfway or further.
I cannot ever remember a time when a common 328 was more than $125,000 TOPS.
way ahead of you... but thanks for the reminders...
I never thought about bugs... wow, people actually... bugs... just, wow.
When you see what bug acid does to 'thin, exotic, rare' paint, yes, the TRUE collector car folk like to beat it home before the bugs come out.
Come to 82nd a Center, you will see the lot empty out of the NICE cars before sundown.
