NWS (NOAA): http://www.crh.noaa.gov/forecasts/MAZ005.php?warncounty=MAC017 Forecast as of: 419 AM EDT WED AUG 11 2004 7-Day Forecast ... Friday night. Showers and thunderstorms likely. Lows in the lower 60s. Chance of rain 60 percent. Saturday. Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 70s. Saturday night. Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s. But you know what they say about Boston weather.
With 2 tropical storms soon to be hurricanes that will be funneled up the east coast late this week and this weekend, all bets are off. It's what you see is what you get. Hopefully we can thread the needle and get the bbq in. K.
It just keeps getting better for Sat. Now the AM rains are gone! Now I have to figure out how to smoke BBQ for 8-10 hours in tomorrow's drenching rain & 12-25mph gusting to 35mph winds! Hmm, Think I'm going to leave work early & load up my smoker this PM and beat the weather. Then refrigerate it until Sat. AM. Nice thing about BBQ brisket is that it won't suffer from being gently re-warmed if it's done properly.
Loaded my smoker up with 6 briskets about 7:30 last night. Took it off about 8:00 AM after tending it all night. Timed it close tho, the rain started as I was wrapping the last brisket in foil! I think this may turn out to be one of the best batches I've ever made! Conditions were just right. Was a beautiful night for smoking. Warm & humid, which both helped keep the smoker's temp. very stable, & assisted in preventing the brisket from drying out. Also, big loads always seem to come out better! Sat. weather forecast just keeps improving: So, Y'all Come, Ya Heah!!!
So, I have two people RSVP'd to show up here at noon for the caravan. Anyone else? Kenny? Michael? Hope to see you. Birdman

Hi David, We are planning to leave my house at 1:00 PM because Verell wants to start at 2:00 PM and the drive is about 40 mins. My house is off Rte 93, so we will go 93 north to 495 south to Exit 31 (Rte 119). We would probably hit that spot at 1:30. I'll PM you my cell phone #. Birdman

Great to see everyone! Thanks especially to Verell and Birdman for all of your effort in putting on a great event! Kind Regards, Chris
The BBQ was great - great food, people, and of course, cars Thanks for a great afternoon Verell! - Jon
Hey Everyone, I wish I could take credit for such a great event, but Verell, John B. and Rex did most of the work getting it all ready in the morning. All I did was bring some food and make a racket with my horn! (Which by the way, unstuck and now I can't replicate the problem. Gotta love Italian electrics). Great party Verell, and GREAT BBQ!! I'll post pics shortly (in a new thread). Birdman P.S. You people didn't eat enough. What am I going to do with an entire tray of my secret family recipe cornbread?
Like most other things about FChat, this was a team effort. While special thanks go to to Spider348, RexM, & Birdman for their extensive help in preparing & setting up. Everyone who came brought something that added it's unique flavor or character to this event. We had a great turn-out, great cars, great folks, wunnerful food & drink, & some great conversations. Also thanks for the attendees who stayed late & helped put the food, lawn furniture, etc. away. It was greatly appreciated as by then I was way too tired to have been able to do it by myself!
Hats off to the hosts. I had a great time and met many wonderful people. It was my first event, but hopefully not my last. Bdel
What a great time. Sorry we had to leave so early. Thanks to Verell (I've found a new standard for BBQ) and Birdman for hosting such a great get together.
Thanks to all the folks who organized the BBQ. It was a blast for all of us. What a great group of people- we even had a small tech session with my car on Verell's lift- bad timing gear bearings!! Of all the places I would want my car to develope a problem- it would be within a mile of Verell's house! So- Verell and I spent Sunday breaking down the motor so we can remove the front case. Here is a photo from a day of parts removal: Also- a special thanks the John B. for the ride in his awesome 348. He got me alot closer to Portland so my wife could pick me up. Thanks John John W.
