Hi all, I have a question regarding the update of the maps in Roma. Is there a way to update the maps yourself? I love it in the Range Rover, where you can simply buy the new maps from here.landrover and update them yourself with a usb stick. Thank you for your input. Updating any map in a Ferrari is a nightmare. I have a Porto and apparently there are absoulutely no updates to anything anywhere. Not even third party updates. Do not understand why as Ferrari do not produce the maps themselves but it seems to be an F thing to equip their cars with lousy electronics. It is all just software, which should be updateable without having to change any hardware. I will follow this thread with interest as I really would like to update the maps. If you find anything let me know please. Meantime, good luck.
True, but then again I’m not that happy with Apple and Google knowing everything about where I’ve been, how long I’m there, where I’ve parked, how long for etc. etc. that’s why I prefer to avoid Apple/Google maps, Waze etc. between that and my search history, gmail and so on they pretty much own my ass.
Perhaps, but I have done what I can and turned off location for all my apps, with only a select few set to “location only when using app”. Same goes for access to microphone. Maybe they are tracking me anyway against my will, but if they are then I hope someday they’ll be hit with a class action for invasion of privacy of people that have expressly turned off location services.
I took delivery of the Porto in 2020. Without Apple Play. One cannot add it in later, not on a Ferrari at any rate. if anyone knows how please let me know
I purchased a 296 GTB and find both the navigation system and voice recognition in general to be abominable. This is so surprising when eg. Mercedes has had it down pat for some time now. While I know that I can use Apple Maps etc through Car Play, I would prefer to have my screen in the car not taken up by Car Play. How do we bring pressure on Ferrari to provide a good software update?
Happy to join any hroup that will bring "pressure" on Ferrari to update the navigation software. However, the Tooth Fairy told me I may have a better chance of living to be 900 than succeeding!
Would also love to know how but methinks that would entail updating all the electronics which would invalidate any warranty (and probably guarantee you problems).
I learned from the dealer that there is a software update. I have an appointment to have it installed in January.
WOW. You must be part of the chosen few. Please keep me informed as to what the update actually entails. Do you get a new map? Maybe, just maybe, a map that even gives you (gasp) traffic information.
. Not surprised. I did not get my hopes up too much but thought you may be chosen by the Ferrari gods but no, you are a mere mortal. Oh dear. Seriously though, this is just a software update. They must be buying the maps in from somewhere and it will not require new wiring or any other new physical part. Ferrari and the dealers could charge for it. Find it really strange that there are zero updates to the map. My wife's BMW get automatically updated every six months.
Mine heads in tomorrow for service, I'll let everyone know of update/no update but I think I already know the outcome, call me Nostradamus!
