I remember I used to watch the ASA AC Delco Series on Friday or Saturday nights (usually on TNN) back in the day. Good stuff.

BTW, this stage racing has to be the stupidest idea out of a lot really stupid ideas.

    Watching Daytona now.

Sad when the commercials are more interesting than the racing...

not watching in protest. I'd say you're more than an average race fan, do the segments make any sense to you? does it add to the show or....?

Agreed. Hoping for an alfa romeo commercial to class it up a bit.

Not watching out of total apathy. I can't stand it, the commentators, the dumbing down of the sport, the boredom, the commentators, the political correctness of it all, the uniformity. Did I mention the commentators?

Yah.... after they did Talledega nights you would think they would have walked away.

Every interview with a driver or crew member starts with:

"I'm so proud of the Dominos UPS Quaker State Pizza Hut Lowes FedEx Chevrolet team...."

Thanks for posting the video version.

    Two things noticed:

    (1) The attendance bar graph presented struck me as a slow decay rather than a dramatic short-term decline. To me, this indicates that their older established fan base is literally dying off as a population and not being replaced.
    (2) Seeing a Toyota Camry leading a pack of race cars has got to be FAKE NEWS. Further, I've never seen a 2-door Camry at a Toyota dealership or a Hertz or Avis lot.

Danica could win the race. Fast as hell car. Nascar could use a danica win.

How do we know who wins the race....whoever wins the third "stage"?

So they keep crashing until there's only one car running?

    Winning!

Lol. This new format will prove even worse than before. Total disaster.

  17. I'm not sure....

I think you have to go to the twin 150s and figure in some points from the stages there and...and...and.........

  18. How's it go....???

Do the same thing over and over expecting different results?

When do these pros learn? Or are they incapable?

This segment racing will guarantee one thing...lots of wrecked cars each weekend. This will prompt an emergency owners meeting by mid season. Sponsor dollars are hard enough to garner. Who beyond Roger and rick will be able afford this bs?

  20. I don't see the stages causing these wrecks. Still more than half of this segment and there's been three already. It's just great decision making by the "best drivers in the world".

edit; Even Jeff (Gordon) just said it: "They're makin' aggresive crazy moves and they keep doin' it...."

I am watching the Daytona 500 now the only race I set aside time to be sure to watch every year .. This am There was a show on FS1 that talked about the 1979 Daytona 500 the first race televised . as I watched that show I realized all the things that made the racing exciting is now missing .. the manufacturers had special cars with doors that open You could easily see a ford was a ford etc. The ending featured knock out fight with 2 drivers that got in to an accident on the last lap and the cameras were on that while the announcers had no idea who the leader was in the last lap ...
all that is exciting and also gone...

This is one of my issues with Nascar. There's just too much random luck involved in who wins or loses.

Their is nothing you can do about these 20 car pile ups. It's just luck to get through.
