I'm using the Jimmy Johnson approach - consistency wins championships. A couple years ago Ryan Newman won 10 races - but was nowhere to be seen in the championship fight. We remember champions, not single race winners. ;)

Whisky and I tied this week, and we have nearly identical rosters....all 4 starters (obviously) and 2 of the 4 alternates were the same.

I had Johnson/Earnhardt/Bowyer, but I have a feeling David Ragan sunk my battleship this week.

    Too bad that doesn't count.

NOW, if that is what we had agreed to prior to the season, I would have played the 'regular season' quite differently.

If we had, say, maybe 20 FULL TIME players all season long, I think we both would have agreed to have the champion
decided by 'chase' races, but we both knew that would never happen so there was no point in doing that.
IIRC at the beginning of the season I was 3rd for awhile.

    it was your idea :p

this thing is just too damn long, maybe next year we only do the chase races anyway. is there a way to form a new league after the season has started?

I suppose we could do that - just form teams and do nothing - pick drivers for race one that you KNOW won't be in contention at the end of the season and when they blow thru their 9 starts then take zero points until the chase starts.

We COULD do that, but I really enjoy kicking everyone's ass here all season long!

The real bottom line is, we just need more full-time players, I wish we could get at least 12, 12 that won't blow it off part way into the season.

Yes, that is one of the benefits of the 3 segment format. We can start the league to coincide with the "playoffs".

    :D

    You're welcome. :D

Yep. Even though last year was less than 12 it was more lively thanks to the banter; this year was a dud.

    Next year I might join a public league...at Applebee's. ;) :D

As I think about it, nah, I won't do a 'chase only' league, what would be the point?
Seriously - I bet all of us would simply start #48 in nine races, and whoever else in the other three, and for the B list it would be whoever is hot (like Bowyer, Mark Martin, Biffle, etc), and for the C driver it would also be a split of whichever two are hot - like this year Almirola or Hornish.
It would suck to do it this way, I won't take part.

For me this weekend I have a choice of positions 10-15, 6-7-9-12, and 5-28.
I am leaning towards 5-6-10-12- aka #48, #5, #15, #43, but may swap in #55 or #56, apparently we all liked Truex (7th)

Another season, another 1st loser trophy for SRB. :(

Last year I had the least # of wins in the Top 6 and this year I had the most wins overall...and still finished in the same place.

set your lineup in advance - you can do that - you can fill it out per race for the full season if you like - and I'd still kick your ass.

you were doing great, then you disappeared...

    ;)
