So just had my nose cauterized by my doctor today. Both nostrils were done. It was a chemical cauterization using Silver Nitrate. Had it done, because of some frequent nose bleeds. Doctor told me not to blow my nose out of my right nostril for two weeks because he cauterized it somewhat heavily and try not to with my left nostril. My dilemma is I am in the height of allergy season right now and just wiping my nose is just aggravating.

Anything I can do to speed up the healing process so I can blowing my effing nose?!?

Anyone else ever have a nasal cauterization done? What was your experience like?

Never had cauterization done, but if you want to clean out your nose and sinuses but can't, look into a Neti Pot. I have one and it really works great.

Or, just mix some salt and lukewarm water (as close to body temperature as possible) and use any regular spouted vessel you have around. Works great, especially for allergies.

I had that process done to me a few years ago. It sucks. I dont have any suggestions other than to keep wiping your nose. I was miserable the entire time.

I've used it before for my allergies and it does work great. I will consult with my doctor today and see if I am able to do that. Forgot all about my Neti Pot!

It does suck. Guess I have to suck it up! Have a road trip this weekend......great. Do you remember how long until you were all healed up?

I was told to sneeze with my mouth open and try to not hold it in or force it out my nose.

Had a nose bleed this morning that made me late for work. I'm hoping it was just because I slept on one side and the other nostril got dry, because I really don't want to do this all over again.
