Thank you and no need to apologize. Just trying to illustrate the point and call the game as I have experienced it many times in the past and hopefully the future.
I agree with your remarks as it relates to 365GTCs or other such common production inventory. However I can only state my personal experience since 1984 vending historically significant cars, paintings and sculpture when prices were much reduced. In those early years it took something in excess of 1.5 Mil market value to tempt any of the houses. Today the telephone book numbers for significant inventory make this a far more common practice than you might want to believe. This is especially true if you are in the position to have the right merchandise, a long term relationship with the house, will bring them future consignments as well as represent big$ purchasers etc. In any case the house does just fine last time I looked. RM & Mecum have their own planes, expanding auction events, adding new dates, adding new profit center services (insurance and financing) and no apparent shortage of buyers. Check Las Vegas Casinos, they spend huge on advertising, comp rooms, cars, women, drinks, travel to and from and from what I experience from the one I hold that is publically traded still managed a fair dividend even during the down years.
Many thanks, Marcel; now I know that I can well imagine waiver of seller's commission for the right automobile!
