    Does anyone who has a Nardi or "Nardi Style" Wooden Steering wheel suffer from sweaty palm syndrome while driving?

    I have a Nardi Wheel, which currently isn't fitted to any car, and I have been advised against fitting it, particularly if driving for more than 30 minutes, even in very mild UK temperatures as it leads to palms sticking to the wheel? Personally I have never experienced this with the "wooden/plastic" wheel fitted to my Wife's Volvo, but has anyone else?

    I like the look, but as the boss will require a small mod to take the wheel, I am reluctant to go ahead if I'm just going to be kicking myself 2 weeks later?

    i dont believe that would be a problem. my wheel though is finished with tung oil and as such is a little less slippery than varnish would be being a bit more absorbant would i think contibute less to sweaty palms. the wheel is wonderful feeling too and although it is a lot more slim than a modern wheel the grip is good as your thumb fits against the wheel perfectly for a good grip,.. not surprising, really that a ferrari would have an ergonamically excellent steering wheel.

    i love it.

    and i have pretty big hands.

    You might want to try a strip and refinish with "Plus-5" marine varnish made by VC Systems in Union, NJ (908) 686-1300. I used it for years on the exterior teak on my CC 427. Impervious to salt water (sweat) and has good UV blockers. Did not yellow in direct sun for three years of hard exposure. Finish is like glass. Good so far on a teak coffee table inside for 10 years. No drink rings. Might be worth talking to them.

    I have it in my car and I don't suffer from sweaty palms.
