Thought I would share the guts and gore of an L series dashboard in its most intimate nature. Besides the fibreglass construction, this is so rustic, it really elicits applause for its construction. No sign of Phillips screws, just pan head slots. While growing in Italy, I do not recall screwdrivers except for flat bladed ones. Very basic at its best. A gentleman in Austria has solicited some of its components, to restore another L, and fortunately, my dashboard is still unfinished and unrestored in its very original way. Hope you enjoy. Alberto, I think your thread title is quite misleading. Looks like the L(ady) is still fully clothed in mouse-fur.
Shawn, the plywood is the large openings part, that holds the glovebox and radio bin. In front, it is the full opening lid. As the gentleman requested this part also, I will continue disassembling the dashboard and will show it in its 'naked glory', per Timo's appreciation Regards, Alberto
Yes, very rustic engineering but it works and it is easy to repair...First and only woodwork on a Dino: Image Unavailable, Please Login My car is build number 196 by the way. Best, Peer
We made two sets, as mine were rusted, with holes through the metal. Cannot believe where Dino rusts! Next, plywood covers. Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login
We made new ones, and as the 'L" has different thickness on the glove box lid, we used two different types, as well for the faceplate. On my dash, as the mouse fur was more of a rat rug, had to leave the chamfering on the abundant side to be adjusted to what is extant. Radio opening marked but not cut. Hinges too. What's the hinge for? I don't remember seeing one on my "L" but it's been a few years so I'm not saying it's wrong. Keith
