According to the seller, it is not 0409. He will not provide any other details, unless given in person. Not email, phone etc. If you want to know more about the car, you're gonna have to hop on a plane and head for Italy. DM
How do you offer anything when you don't know what the chassis # is nor the condition it is in? (I've seen enough nightmare restorations that some sellers somehow believe should win FCA/Pebble concours) Plus you can not inspect for ones customer or hire someone to authenticate either. It sounds almost like some of the crazy methods of doing transactions for South American racecars... Here is what I got back: ---------------------------------------- "Dear Sir all that i can say by email it is the advertising on web: "Ferrari 250 Gt Europa, 1954, 2nd series, Pininfarina, 13500km from new, unrestored conditions, perfectly running and driving, completly original and matching numbers car, last owner since 43 years, original interior and paint. No pictures and details on chassis and other will be sent for email and phone but just contacts by persons. You can find beautiful pics of her (by the Singhof brothers) here: http://www.barchetta.cc/All.Ferraris/events-stories/events/2008/concours-show/villa-d-este/concorso-d-eleganza-villa-d-este-gallery-17/index.html
Hey Pieter, I did, of course, not contact him with my real name but using two different aliases that cannot be traced back! Ciao MM
It smells. If I have a genuine car for sale, I'd welcome the involvement of someone who is an authority on the subject, as he can be conducive to my business. There must be a story, the number of candidates for the chassis is very limited. Or did Ferrari build one, never numbered and never registered, extra, that was walled in in a factory in Italy after it fell off a truck only to be found now after 55 years and the building caved in? Come on, someone is playing. I am a genuine interesting AND interested person, unfortunately I suspect that my cash is insufficient...
I wrote and offered to fly to Europe (seriously) to come see the car in December or January, and got the standard reply everyone else did. I will admit it does not sound very straight up, but I may try to go see it anyway in December or January. I will bring a fake moustache and Afro wig for Marcel who will accompany me as my "valet" to inspect the car... (j/k)
Haha!!! Hope you will not fall into a Mafia's trap! This looks really fishy as if a kid trying to sell the precious car of his dying dad or uncle, without anyone in the family knowing about it...
Well, I too offered to go straight to Italy and inspect car, then buy it. I finally got a reply from an "Antonio" but he sent just a standard reply, NOT answering my questions WHERE to go to or giving a date and he didn't answer any of my other questions. With this lack of co-operation (or should I say motivation?) it is impossible to sell or buy anything.............not very professional, I think. Marcel Massini
