Lost my bet; it's after midnight and I don't see a definite ID on the car.
I don't normally read this stuff but this has been brilliant. A real "pulp fiction" spy novel, a real "who dunnit". I couldnt put it down and I can't wait for the next installment. My 2 cents is the car is real but Dott Antonio has a very tenuous relationship with the owner at best. If the owner really wanted to sell you would think he/she would contact someone very well known in the vintage F car world to do the deal. A post here on Fchat would get the names of some real people in an instant eg Tom, Jim, Marcel etc etc. Anyway I can't wait for Mr Smiley from the La Care books (that's your code name for this particular covert operation Marcel) to do some more detective work and bring us updates on this car, which I do believe exists and may even be for sale?? I love those old F cars and the more that are brought out into the open for us enthusiasts to enjoy the better. Especially those that have been left unmolested and retain their beautiful patina which this one looks like. Cheers John
good thread.Imagine all the car brokers that are trying to cut this dealer out as we type. met few good ones.
Post #230 and we still don't know whether this car exists or not. Agatha Christie couldn't have done it better. Onno
done about 7/8 years ago. The new belts were older then the ones they replaced, its a common factory repair. "Whats it to you POP,you'll never own one"
I just spent some time to read the final pages. I hoped for a good outcome and more information and pictures of this great car, but we will probably have to wait longer... Nice thread though!!
I find it ominous that Marcel has been absent from this thread for more than a couple of days now.....
Mr Smiley (Marcel) is obviously deep undercover and maintaining radio silence but his enigma machine is ready and waiting to send the encripted messages to keep us back here at HQ updated when he resurfaces. I can't wait for an update from our number 1 field agent. As a side note, Quantum of Solace is opening here in Australia. Now may I suggest that the next Bond movie stars Danial Craig on the hunt for a mysterious Europa that has not seen the light of day for many decades. Rumoured to be deep in Italy guarded by a mysterious Dott Antonio. The agent must undergo a dangerous cross-alpline journey from Switzerland into Italy and then on down the entire length of Italy into the hills of Calabria in search of the mysterious Dott Antonio and the mystical Europa. (Maybe a side trip to St Kitts, Antigua etc to inject a bit of colour as well.) I think this thread as all the makings of a winner Bond film. Cheers John
Did you say Blofeld?! Ah then is my favorite Bond girl Tracy di Vicenzo aka Diana Rigg in the plot?! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Actual the one just visible in the photo is what she drives in the movie: a big American red convertible with Paris plates a Pontiac GTO perhaps though I know nothing about such cars....sorry for digressing but the essence of this thread is that it goes nowhere
If Marcel has gone silent he may have given up..or he may just be on is way to Basilicata...but will he return...hopefully and with news of the car being real and interesting!
I am sure Marcel Bond has all the latest spy gear from"Q" and will report back after interrigating the latest "Bond" girl who, the scuttlebut has it, is actually " Antonioette" just one man's opinion tongascrew
Funny, I just watched that movie yesterday in Hi def. and have to say that Diana Rigg (the Avengers) was one of the best, and most gorgeous, bond girl ever... I can't say the same for Mr Lazenby and I'm not surprised he lasted only one movie...
