I have a 05 F430, F1 with the launch control button. From what I understand US cars have the feture disabled. Is it possible to swap a Euro TCU in place to make it work? Any info would be appreciated.

If there's an LC button you bought an import car. Run the carfax it will probably reflect gray market title probably thru Florida I bet. No US spec'd car have the button even as dummies. It most likely is operational. Must have been brought in from Europe or South America at the height of the market.

That would suck if you paid US market dollars for the car, big time.

Also, I know it's buyer beware, but if it was sold to his as a US car, and it is not, I would think the seller left himself open for a healthy lawsuit.

Does it have side marker lights or no? Just a curious question.

LC stands for "less clutch". Whenever you want to remove some of your clutch, press this button.

There is/was a black 2005 F430 in Houston that was a US spec car with LC. It was supposed to be a one off deal. I have seen it a couple years back.

Remember guys. Any import into U.S. other than from Canada voids the warranty...

No need to run a CarFax, just look at the VIN. If it starts with ZFFEW58A, then it's a US car; if it's ZFFEZ58B, then it's a Euro car. If it's a spider, replace the 8 with a 9.

Only from 2000 and older; in 2000, Middle East cars got their own letter: T.

Ferrari was named in the class action lawsuit about 6 years back and now ALL auto manufacturers have to honor warranties no matter where the cars orgin was. I thought this is why the grey market gap in price was closed substantially 6 years ago. Does anyone actually know this is true?

I purchased the car from Steve Harris Imports, a Ferrari NA dealership, in August of 09. It even has the Ferrari powercube warranty and is a certified car. I'm thinking maybe the previous owner bought the Euro plate with the button maybe?????? I checked the VIN, it is a US spec car.

BTW, it also has the carbon brakes, carbon interior, carbon seats....... so it was spec'd out pretty aggresively.

If you bought it from Steve Harris - it is most certainly as described.

Launch Control is one of those things better experienced on YouTube. A quick search and view of the vids will provide a great virtual burn out, with no down time to have your car serviced.

i dont think euro imports are lesser value. obviously some of that depends on the age of the car.
but the warranty now covers the cars ww, and besides that, there are no more regular warranties on cars after 5 years anyway.

please explain why euro imports would be worth less?

Keep your fingers off the LC button, they say about 3 starts and a new clutch assembly. All Uk cars have it but never used if u r smart

I've been working on a clutch friendly LC feature lately with self learning of the road surface and clutch slip so gets amazing results. Ofcourse extensive testing to do first.

The way it works is you drive in both directions during learning phase twice and it calculates perfect launch point for both acceleration times and minimum amount of clutch slip! I will post some times and videos soon in conjunction with AV Engineering! It will save ambient temperatures, humidity and GPS position for next time you try it on that road and other SAK tool owners can use baseline settings from contributed results so it will be aware of how good the road surface is. I hope later to add advanced control of suspension stiffness based on quality of telemetry gained from SAK tool drivers contributing data to the cloud.. Really out there stuff which will be great for tracks in particular!
