Oh my. This will be interesting. Will it be a 2.8 RSR or a 934?

    Jon,

It looks like the hinges are removed from the hinge post (red 911). Normally if there's no rust on the hinge post and if the doors have good gaps before disassembly you only remove the hinge pins. That way it's just a matter of putting back the pins for perfect alignment. Getting the door to realign otherwise can be time consuming and frustrating. Sometimes you can be lucky.

I think the Orange car looked really good!! Mine won't be orange though. I'm sure I'll get critized for this and that but I only have myself to please. We will have to see how it unfolds. It's my first stab at a Porsche 911 and in no way am I trying to make a replica or clone. It's just and RSR theme they way I want to do it. I think it will be a high end project though. Freeman you are worrying too much about me. The hinges will be the least of my problems I run into!!

Jon, I know you're really more of a Porsche guy at heart like a lot of us ;). I like the 'not an exact replica' approach you're taking. It leaves you open and free to do whatever you want and just the way you want. GREAT project(s)!

Was the white one Gold Metallic originally? Check out the Wurth DBS stripper before you strip the other car, I think it's much quicker than the knotted wire wheels.

I had the wurth guy at my shop and he said the best and fastest way was what I was doing. It took about 40 hours to get it all off. We probably went overboard as I think the media blasting would get the areas that have lighter coverage.

Jon, after working as extensively as you have with the 'Dino shape', how do you see the '901 shape' now that you are massaging these? You have a keen eye for picking 2 legendary designs to focus on.
