You have a great car collection. Very clean machines. I'm glad you love Fords from the 80s. This is a fresh take on a car collection in all honesty, a departure from the typical Porsche and Ferrari stable that we always see ad nauseam. Ford designed some good ones in the 1980s and they have passed the test of time and are real lookers. I love the fox body Mustang GTs and the T-Birds of that era. I love the Mustang GT cop car! I remember those well. Great show ;)

Thank you so much for your compliments. I seriously can't believe any Ferrari guys would like my collection. I am amazed.

Yeah, I like the 85 also, being it is the last carb Mustang ever produced and the fact that I had one back in the day. That's why I love all these cars, they are time machines for me. I take one for a drive, and all of a sudden it's the 80s again. Reagan is President, gas is $1.30/gal, and I am reliving my single, carefree days again. I love it.

The 82 GT is the first car I ever wanted. I did not get my license until 84, but when the 82 came out, Ford's advertising had a crimson red GT with the slogan "The Boss is Back". I wanted one ever since, even though it only had 157 horsepower. I just loved the look of that car.

Thanks so much. I'll say it again, I can't believe Ferrari guys would give these cars a second glance.

Thanks. These cars don't even come close to Porsches or Ferraris in any category ( quality, performance, fit, finish etc), but they are different. Probably because a sane person would not bother with these cars.LOL But I like them because they take me back to a very fun time for me. Thanks for looking and appreciating my cars. As for the police car, do you remember seeing them on the road, or behind you with the lights on?LOL

Thanks. I feel the SVOs are greatly underrated. Ford designed these cars to compete with the road cars of the day (BMWs, Porsche 924/944s etc), and I think they did a great job. 200 horsepower, hurst shifter, koni shocks, they are a blast to drive and a great all around performer, unlike the straight line performance of the Mustang GT.

hahaha :) ---both on the road admiring them from afar and behind me in the rear view mirror with lights on the roof turning, college days era. I secretly wanted one of my own. And you have one!

Maybe post better pics of the cop car. The ones you have here are too dark.

I will try to post better pics. It is pretty dark where it is stored.

It's funny. I bought the police car in 93. My Dad liked it so much, we went down there for an auction to try and buy another one. All the cars at that auction were hammered, so he did not buy one. There was one car whose back seat was completely stained with blood. And this was back in the days of the AIDS scare. It was kind of freaky.

Fantastic Brad brings back a lot of memories for me. I had an 82 red gt and a 86 gt same color scheme as your 85 and my dream car back in 88 was to buy a new scarlet red gt just like the one you have I never did get the scarlet red but ended up with a black 89 a couple of years later which I bought used. I never heard of an escort gt although I remember a turbo being offered on the exp.
You stated that your 82 gt was a factory 5 speed I thought the 5 speeds didn't come out until 83 I remember the 82's being 4 speeds with 4th considered an overdrive gear was the 5 speed an option?
Thanks again for posting I really enjoyed looking at them.

Thanks for the compliment and thanks for taking the time to look at them.

    Sorry. I had a brain-freeze. It is a 4-speed. First year for a 5-speed was 83.

Escort GT Turbos were extremely rare. I don't know how many they made, but I only saw one other one back in 86 when I owned mine. I was parked at the mall. I was home from college and I went to buy my girlfriend a Christmas gift. I parked way out, all alone. There wasn't a car parked within 100 yards of my car. I come out of the mall, and I can see in the distance someone parked right next to me. I was not pleased. But when I get up to my car, here the car parked next to me was identical to mine, a black 85 Escort GT Turbo. Only other one I ever saw.

Cool collection. Like the odd ball stuff like the EXP, SVO, and Escort Turbo. Throw a Merkur in there and you'll have all the weird Fords.
I remember the 5.0 FHP cars as well. Most were phasing out by the time I noticed, but there were some hold outs.

very cool! never heard of the Escort Turbo.

I love the FHP Mustang, the Fox body Mustang LX was a great little car-fast, stealth, old school. no wonder so many police departments liked them :)

My first car was a silver '82 GT no sunroof or t-top and no ac. Bought it in '85 when I got my license. Dropped it an inch. Added 15x7 back mesh enkei wheels. Gutted the cats and all emission components. And ditched the 2bbl for an eddelbroc performer with a Holley 600. It great seeing your collection it brings back memories. Someday I'd like to put together a hatch fox body in the lines of a silver state road race car with a modern tube suspension and 32valve.

I have to agree with Henry. Those Mustangs in that condition have to be damn near impossible to find. I love the 88, it's still my favorite of all the mustangs.

I have find memories of nearly every car you have and I love that you went back and searched them out.

I've had some fox cars too. A 1984 Silver on black GT Turbo with T-tops and rear louver, very good looking car but not a V8. A bubble back Capri RS with T-tops loaded but with a V6 :-( Bought a brand new 87 GT convertible loaded, black with white leather and white top. 90 5.0 L LX coupe auto, I added a shift kit and 3.55 gears what a sleeper it was but I should have go with the 3.73. My last one was an 86 ASC McLaren Capri convertible and I should have keep it as it was a nice rust free California car with original paint.

With this thread you've revive my fox body enthusiasm. I'm looking for a low cost convertible and I just realized my friend has a 1984 GT350 convertible that he might sell. Henry those GT350 were 1984.

Oh wow I LOVE the FHP car, that is awesome. I remember back in the day when those very cars struck the fear of GOD in me during many a high speed jaunts down to Florida. You would just see them at the last minute hiding in the median or behind a bridge! :)

When Shmark asked me to post pictures of my other cars, I thought he would be the only one on this site to have any interest in my other cars. I have seen your cars here and my cars don't hold a candle to them. That is why I am both honored and humbled by the kind response and interest my cars have received here. It's interesting how many people had these cars in their past, even Ferrari owners. I can't thank you all enough. I never thought anyone else liked these cars, let alone a bunch of Ferrari fans. Maybe I am not so crazy after all!LOL Thanks again for your interest, compliments, and taking the time to look at and respond to my thread.

Very few people have heard of the Turbo Escort GT. One day, I went to the mechanics to pick up my black one. There was a customer there who thought he was a "Ford expert". He proceeded to tell me the Escort never had a factory turbo option. I told him I had one back in the 80s. He said that I was wrong. So I went into the trunk and showed him the original window sticker which, of course, had the turbo option on it. Even then, he would not admit he was wrong. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.

Yeah, the LX notchback was the drag racers choice for a Mustang in the 80s. It was the lightest Mustang available.

By the way, I love your avatar!

That sounds like a great car, especially for a first car. If I had that as a first car, I probably would have killed myself in it. Who am I kidding, I would probably kill myself in it if I had it today!LOL

Thanks. Although it is tough to find unmolested fox body Mustangs, the ones that were really hard to find were the Escorts, Probes, and EXPs. People beat those cars and never thought anyone would collect them. Other than me, no one does.LOL For whatever reason, 87 to 93 Mustang GT convertibles are rather plentiful in low mileage, good condition. Nice hatchbacks are a lot harder to find.

As for my shopping list, I would love to find a nice 86 or 87 charcoal/black interior Mercedes 190 16v, 86 Dodge Omni GLHS, and an 89 Pontiac Trans Am Indy Pace car, the one with the Grand National engine. That was the first Indy pace car in Indy 500 history that did not need to be modified to pace the race.

Thanks so much. As I said before, these cars are time machines for me. I love hopping in one and going for a drive. When I do that, I feel like I am a teenager again. Also, since they aren't worth that much, I am not too afraid to drive them, although if something does happen, parts are impossible to find for the Escorts, EXPs and Probes.

You have had a lot of very cool, very rare cars. I love it. The GT350s are great cars. If you get it, please let me know. I'd love to see some pics.

Thanks, along with the 308, the M3 is probably the centerpiece of my collection. It is a blast to drive. Handles like it is on rails.
The SHOs are great cars, but I never had one, so I don't have the emotional bond to them. But then again, never say never.LOL

The LX notch is a very cool car, and pretty hard to find these days.

Thank you very much. What really excited me about this car when I bought it was that it still had its original paint and was a 5-speed. I think the majority of SSP cars were automatics, but I am not sure.
