Fantastic , the EZ power steering will make a huge difference and can always be removed . Whats it like on cold start? Any throttle needed? I've invited Ian and Greg on a lap of the Blue Mountains when up there in Autumn with 7 to 8 other old car guys in our old things , E-types ,356,Healey,Cobra you should come for the drive 200ks lap ,Ian and Greg are staying the night and having dinner with us at either the Hydro Majestic or the Carrington .
I'm definitely happy to consider a classic GG after I've done a few shorter trips & feel confident with the reliability for slightly longer trips We must have a chat next week some time
Previous owner has a mark on the choke, it seems from only a few start ups cold that I've done, it needs a tiny bit of throttle & generally starts first or second turn. It definitely needs a little revs held for a minute or two & doesn't run smoothly until nice & warm. I've driven off after a few minutes to help the warm up, gearbox is just like my first Ferrari 328 it needs gearbox warm to get that easier gear change. Definitely would consider a run to the Blue Mountains if I'm free when its on
Sounds a great touring car Pete , secret with the partners not to scare 'em keep them comfortable . The Sebring is like the Aston DB6 Mark 2 I had ,plenty of room and very comfortable ,Amanda has often said why did you sell it over the E-type i.e she preferred the Grand tourer over the E-type . I'll PM you our Blue Mountain plan.
off and on with the key to allow fuel pressure build up? The great thing about those twin cam motors with the spark plugs its easy to put fresh plugs in if one fouls .
Reality is I have to get used to things like this again, I haven't worked on a car for 40 years, all the cars I've owned since then have been maintained by others so I probably need to buy a few spare plugs & good plug socket for removal/replacement if I foul a plug.
Every Italian car I’ve ever owned (and I’ve only ever owned Italian cars!) has the same start procedure - 3 throttle pumps before you turn the key to start!
Thanks Karen, of all those Italian cars were they mostly carburettor engines? My car has very early fuel injection so procedure may be different. The previous owner of the car suggested the procedure I’ve adopted, but I’m going to try next few cold starts no throttle, if it doesn’t like it, back to prime the fuel pump then start with small throttle.
Doh, sorry - yes, I only drive carbs! I never thought of the Sebring being injected... now I’ve gone back and looked at the pic I did miss something significant!
Thanks for the compliments, yes I agree in profile very similar to 365GTC & 330GTC, it was what attracted me to this Sebring. I was looking for a 330GTC about 8 years ago but couldn't find a suitable one, I moved on to other things & then they just became out of reach price wise. Then this Sebring came along & I did my thorough DD & had to buy it.
