After my model collection got a little out of hand, I needed to build a new room for them in our basement cause we had a spare room which we didnt use anyway - this will also work as a guest room for those of you who are planning of visiting us in the near future :D (the beedroom is behind the white door on the cabinet wall)

OK...We (my wife and I) started up with this...

Having been (1) raised by a dad who taught my brother and me all the trades and (2) been victim countless times to my wife's DIY obsession, I feel compelled to offer you kudos on a job well done and the persistence to do it.

How did you fasten the wood planks to the wall? Nail, screw, glue? Or are they like 4x8 simulated veneer sheets?

Dad's (RIP) primary trade was electrician. He says from the great power station in the sky, "What's up with those electrics?" I told him it's a Khazad Code thing. He's RIP-ing again now.

Do you have a Home Depot in your town? Is that a DeWalt compound miter saw in the pix? We have one just like it. Much handier than a pipe wrench that'll turn 661 mm nuts. (see "Incredible Tool" thread)

I've nailed the planks to the standing poles behind them with 60 cm in between.
The standing poles have been attached to the concrete wall with massive concrete bolts. :)

I'm not sure what you mean about Home Depot.

Planks, eh? Now I have even more appreciation for your craftsmanship and patience. "Massive concrete bolts" - the only way to go.

Home Depot is a large warehouse-type chain of stores in the U.S. Just about anything one needs or desires for DIY projects can be had there - tools, lumber, plumbing, electrical and so forth plus, usually, professional guidance. They cater to the average Joe and Jane as well as the trades. Just about one in every neighborhood. Very handy and convenient for one stop project shopping. Lowe's is a similar chain of DIY supply stores here.

Again, nice work - enjoy your new sanctuary.
