Very cool find. Still my favorite car. Well it’s tied with a 288.
    Congrats, and good luck!

Agreed, even 7-8 years ago there were alot of poor condition Roadsters, of course they were all $80k or so then. Mine wasn't perfect either, but it was a '99 9k mile one owner car with good bones and a crazy color combo, befitting a Lamborghini. My Ford GT (bought in Feb) is the polar opposite of yours, a driver grade car with 30k miles., but even Hoovie couldn't find a cheaper one....LOL.

Put 50 miles on the FGT today, and the gas station visit was a circus (in a good way, the car gets alot of respect from the public).

    Good luck with yours!

I have an 06 with the same color combo. I took the Original rims/tires and put them in storage. You can now buy OEM rims for reasonable price and put the Bridgestone on. Make sure they change the oil pump belt.

It's been difficult to source belts atm but David (GT101) has been mega helpful and luckily enough had stock on the shelf as most US suppliers were out.

tried starting it up for the first time today but we failed. Injectors need to be cleaned.

PS did you hold the clutch and gas down all the way to build oil pressure first?

GT 101 also has the bushing rubber dust covers for the rear stabilizer links. They tend to dry out.

Thanks Joey, followed that procedure. We actually filmed it live - kinda embarrassing that it didn’t start!

    Your welcome f40r,
Umm are you in the UK or the States?
Are you sure the fuel relay cutoff is reset?
Or if its a UK car you sure your DEAD ALARM as I call is set?
These cars are VERY SIMPLE to run...…….
Go to panel on passenger side at footwell TRIPLE CHECK YOUR FUSES.
I don't think it can be much else. Its an F150 pick up truck, just a great ride....
Check your reset, then the kookie UK kill system if its in the UK.
    Good luck.
100,000 miles in Ford GT's you will be very happy when it runs.

No, we haven't. I wanted to minimise pulling apart parts as much as possible.

It's a full untouched US spec car with no alarm etc. I think the guys have checked the fuel relay cutoff and concluded that the injectors are blocked. I will verify this ASAP. Cheers for the info.

Your pumps are a SHIP IN A BOTTLE, They could have imploded or dried out the seals in the tank. ITS RARE as these cars are bullet proof, but check the reset again.
Thank goodness its a US spec car.
There no RELEARN on the GT or plug and play like newer cars so you will find it.
Also you MASS AIRFLOW sensor is still connected correct?
HOPEFULLY no one sprayed cleaner on it?
It will wack up the start if sprayed directly on it.
Plug in an obd2 , if you have NO CODES go back to the fuel cut off button.
    Good luck.

Sorry to add , once you read the obd2, make sur the crank sensor is good.
    Good luck again.

Good luck with it. Since it is a US Spec car, it probably has a few service bulletins and an airbag recall for the passenger and driver side. We had to wait about 18 months about 4yrs ago just for the parts to become available. Gauges going out is another typical issue for some reason. Depending upon the gauge, they can also be very hard to find. You will love the car, enjoy it often!

    Thank you!

I’ve had to order a new fuel gauge and have The replacement airbags on hand but I’m thinking of parking this car up as the value is in the low mileage.

I’m now on the hunt for a car with a tad more miles that I can enjoy!

f40-r, how did you get it to start.....
    Tip on collector GT
My group was the original owners of these GT's early 40's to mid 60's......Now we are in our mid 50's to early 70's.
Half are dead and the majority cant see, drive ,walk or worse....
Drive the damn thing....Your young now .
Just my 2 cents oh and find a battery pack in your country before they ban gasoline off the roads...…..IMHO
