Exactly! And you have just backed up my viewpoint. There is nothing at all wrong with 100 point concours restoration as long as you get back in the thing and try and wear it out again ... along will come patina again . Pete
Its interesting to note that modern carbon fiber racing seats follow a virtually identical design. Way to go Steve! Just goes to show he actually was the coolest guy ever. _J
Took her for a nice drive today. She's really wonderful and a lot of fun to drive. She came with tons of spares and original records and parts including her original 67 dash. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The fact that you maintain and drive your cars the way you do is wonderful. It's so cool to see something like this, which could easily spend the rest of eternity in a museum, on the road!
Jim, I remember the first time I saw a picture of the Baja Boot in a car magazine; in the 7th grade I think it was. Probably Car Craft or Hot Rod, and it made a big impression on me. I'm glad to see it is still around and in such nice condition. Have fun with it.
We're taking her apart to check her out. All seems good. Her split dual speed transfer box and Steve's tool kit for her. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOVE that photo...what a contrast the Dino and the BEAST! That thing reminds me of a toy my kid used to play with (it was called a 'flip car') that had big rubber tires and ran upright, upside down, etc....wheels just kept spinning and the car kept going! It's a full size flip car! keep it upright though
Ran across this. Some of the pics I think have been posted already. http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com/2009/07/31/the-tsy-friday-fade-steve-mcqueens-dune-buggy-days/
Mr. G., The PDF I attached is from McQueen's Machines and shows both Boots with nose pieces, although one buggy, #11, looks like it has a removeable hard top; the other, #7 which I think is yours, is clearly a total soft top affair.
