Imho another 15mm lower will do the trick visually and not cause any issues if you are mindful when you drive
A couple of weeks ago I went with some friends on a driving tour for a few days in the Scottish Highlands, following the "North Coast 500" route. It's an amazing part of the world, stunning scenery and fantastic driving roads - I highly recommend putting it on your bucket list if you like driving! The car performed as brilliantly as ever, no problems and a perfect machine for such roads in my opinion, as well as being a comfortable place to be for the long drive up there. I did two thousand miles in four days - not great for depreciation, but very great for putting a smile on my face Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
They're a factory "extra campionario" option - silly money ($2500-ish), but luckily I didn't buy the car new so didn't suffer that pain!
It is always hard to capture color accurately. Is this picture more true to the real color? It seems to more closely match the others that show up on a google search. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It changes in different light, but I would say no not really - in that picture it looks a little flat, more towards standard Rosso Corsa.
So your car is an orange based red and not the cherry red I seem to find online? BTW, I love your Daytona seats with inserts. By far my favorite but relatively few people seem to order them.
Hi Andy I have really enjoyed reading your posts and seeing the pictures of your car. I have a car on order and can't wait to get it next year! Would you be able to tell me who did the PPC on your car and the approx cost? Also what approach did you take to the lowering of the car? I really like the idea of the wheel spacers, not something I had really considered before. Regards Michael
Hi Michael, I used Topaz for the PPF, they're not cheap (best to contact them for a quote), but I was extremely happy with the job they did (they detailed it first too to get the paint spot on ready for the film). Lowering wise I didn't change any components, just adjusted using the stock setup - I used SB Race Engineering in Watford to do the work. Cheers, Andy
Same car in sun and cloudy days....once you see rosso fuoco in person, you forget all about the idea of rosso corsa. Cloudy days it doesnt look so good, same for under show room lights but sunny days it stops traffic. The in sun picture matchrs most closly what the car looks like in the flesh. Nothing I like more than to spend my Christmas holidays in the garage cleaning ... the family do get some time as well though, honest. I'm really pleased with the PPF; I had my doubts about having it done, but it's as good as the day it went on (albeit it's only been a year), and very easily to look after. Basic 2BM washing and quarterly sealant application is all I do. The perfect paint underneath is still perfect, and the self healing properties of the film mean it's still crystal clear as well. The car is no garage queen as you might know, it gets driven hard for a few thousand miles a year, so it's cool that I can get it back looking so great so easily. (Sorry for the picture overload again, but I know some of you like to see plenty!) Thanx AndyG, exellent write-up and photos ! I would advise you not to use only one jack in this job ... the 458 may be too fragile for it. Would recommend two jacks or an extra wooden block or even two .... like I always did with my 512TR. I read terrible stories about windows cracking and other paint cracks somewhere. Keep us posted in future please ! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Absolutely gorgeous. The old adage, if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right. Congratulations on such a beautiful car. And the additional advice of using more that one jack........please do. Too much safety & too much car to cut corners on something so simple.
Thanks for the jack advice guys ... it's how I've done it for thirty years and I've never had a problem yet (I do use axle stands or other supports if I'm doing anything more than a quick wheel change though), but better safe than sorry you're right.
I think if I'm correct Mel? meant the issue is more around the jack being a pivot point and you effectively have the car balanced on the pivot which will put strain into that point and could possibly stress the structure with the weight being both ends and could lead to cracked paint or windows, more than the risk of it falling... I do love the fact that you both enjoy your car to the max with putting the miles on it, then also enjoy the clean up and care afterwards, that's what it is all about! Regards Michael
Yes understood. I suspect the modern cars are much stronger in this respect, but in future I'll do it corner by corner.
Correct, there is no jackpoint in the middle so it may dent the lower sills. (I've seen some ... and repair costs are high ... ) Or us a wooden plank or so ... just be very careful was my only message
Yeah that must be me! It's second best to not having my own Rosso Fuoco Ferrari... Lovely car and pictures, keep enjoying and keep sharing!
