I wish you had not sold it!
Yes, See my post above, if you look at the pictures I posted that is how the car interior looked... There was no carpet between the seats or behind the seats. The rear shelf had matching leather on it ! not carpet. Cheers, Bill
hahaha.... I guess I would have to say me too Trouble is if I still had it it would probably have 500,000 miles on it. It's such a wonderful running car and a joy to drive. It makes me sad that it will never really be driven again. It has just become too valuable.
Hi, Fantastic thread, sorry to chime in late, but out of curiosity, what bands did you play in??? Or which artists, what sort of music? Great shot also that one with Nuccio Bertone standing next to the car. It does look a lot like the Aston Martin JET, most likely designed at the same time? These things were meant to be driven, regardless of rarity and value. I crave for old photos with surfboards on racks, girlfriends, etc. Did you ever take a photo of your kit in the car? where did the bass drum go? I bet you didn't use two! Big respect! Cheers, Pekka T. Fin.
Thanks Bill, I pretty much thought so. Little difficult to see from the Gooding pictures, but some with rear window details seem to suggest the current one might even be made of (green) lexan instead of glass. I'll take a closer look up in Monterey.
The shift gaiter looks different and the door cards don't seem to have the same detail. It always surprises me that these obvious mistakes are made.
Bass drum always was in the passenger seat, I had to go down to a 20 inch it was the only one that would fit. I traded a buddy of mine who was playing with Neil diamond... He always was sorry that he gave up that little guy hard to find a great sounding 18 inch kick drum. Still have that whole set, although now I play DW's.
Most obvious mistake is putting carpet between the seats and on the rear shelf, as I said the rear shelf had leather matching the seats. you can see how much better it looks without carpet between the seats. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Ryan, Drive it yes I did ! It was my daily drive, I didn't own another car and in all those years and all those miles it never let me down Cheers, Bill
Fantastic to hear Bill. It's a shame it'll never really be driven again, but at least you put some miles on the clock early on in her life!
As far as you know, #3269 was presented in CC in miami in 1997. Now probably you didn t know but French Tv makes a wonderful programme about the meeting and the car was presented.
Perhaps it should be kept in mind these might not always be "mistakes" but instead specific requests by the person commissioning the work at the time. Nothing new or unusual, even with rare or historically significant examples. Kind of like a specific car having originally been color "X" but during some recent re-paint the color "Y" was chosen due to preference by the person paying for it...
I don't begrudge anyone using his property as he sees fit but do we really think that someone asked that the door cards be configured differently or that the shift gaiter be taller? Perhaps, but more likely an oversight.
As you can plainly see there was leather behind the seats. No carpet between seats or behind-the-seats. I should say well used seats cheers, Bill Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
For a car like this, it can't imagine someone would worry about saving a couple of bucks on the interior finish. I would guess it was a guess to what was original. Either way, to each their own. Is the center tunnel a dark green, or is it just the way the lighting looks?
I was just on tour with Charles Lloyd and he talked about owning a 275 four cam that flying tigers would fly from the east coast to the west coast for him at $300 a flight! He said he loved the car but it was some trouble. I asked was the four cam that much more a car then the twin cam, oh yeah he said. I said that I'd heard it didn't make that much difference unless you were really on it. Got a big smile on that one. Wanted to ask if he ever saw your car Bill but since everyone is so big on pseudonyms I couldn't remember your name. He liked cars back then but sold the 275 for a custom bodied Rolls. Shame.
