My first ever Ferrari has arrived, 2019 488 GTB [updated] now 458 Speciale.

I thought about dropping a hint in here for anyone who cared but took me 3 seconds to realize how obvious it was

She should hopefully be at my dealer a week from today as arranging transport during Thanksgiving time was a bit hectic..

Ok in line with that here is one hint: going to get the 1yr powertrain warranty for it

Might as well go big right. I wish lol, but knocking on wood not complaining about what is inbound

Car should be landing at my dealer early this AM for smog check/powertrain warranty inspection/getting car fully sorted. Closing in on a month post purchase so anticipation has been running high (never driven or even gone for a ride in Speciale)

Hope to go for the first drive and take delivery later this week, will be sure to share spec pics and story then. My transport buddy teased me with that picture!

 

Just visited Ferrari South Bay to see the car in person for the very first time and I'm blown away, could not be more excited

I made the unexpected switch after seeing this spec for sale at a friend's dealership after window shopping online (playing with fire but I think I'm not the only one guilty of doing this from time to time ). Convinced myself I'd have a hard time finding something like it again down the road: argento + scud style stripes + radio + not many other options + 12k miles, wanting one I could flog/drive carefree. Negotiated a fair price for the speciale which helped ease the sting of the move a bit. If it was any other spec I would have passed, did not plan to go from my first Ferrari to first special series within months

As much as I loved my 488 GTB, I came to realize over time that the car was a bit too GT like coming out of my GT3. I didn't find the other flaws in the 488 that many do on here, loving the sound/power/engine/looks. I just missed some of that edge/rawness the Porsche had, thinking if I could blend the 488 together with the GT3 that's what I wanted. Being honest there was also something tugging at my heartstrings about a more limited, VS model from Maranello

For a second I started to do mental gymnastics on a Pista @ 150-200 more than Speciale, but I just wasn't able to stomach that/find justification for the delta in my scenario as all things equal I slightly preferred the Speciale based on paper/looks (have not driven either). Hard to go wrong I'm sure

It looks like she's been around the block as I saw a couple people on FChat are prior owners while killing time going through every page of the speciale picture thread. Whoever specced this did a lovely job IMO

God willing please, *this* one I am keeping for awhile (where have we heard that before). With how punitive CA makes buying/selling/trading a car, along with my new expectation that next to nothing will hold value car wise in this day and age, need to pump the brakes and hold onto what I have or go to rehab!

Dying to actually drive the car and get her home, but still waiting for a bunch of misc items at service (new Cup2s/new TPMS/warranty/smog, and asking if any fluids need to be changed aside from oil)

Also discovered this very minor paint peeling issue on the inner wheel well driver side front, might swing by FastCars in Redondo to have it addressed before it spreads/gets worse

@ipsedixit shhhh!!! well, 992 euro delivery next April lol
