odometer not working. I had forgotten about that until this morning. oh well. another week
Yesterday I fitted the refurbed fans and grill etc and tested that they worked ok - all good so hopefully no more cooling issues. I also cleaned the surface rust of of the spinners to see if they needed rechroming or not and happily I can get away with them for now. I noticed one odd thing in that 3 of the spinners had normal smooth chromed centres but the forth had a "sand-blasted" and then chromed effect - I assume it's been replaced at some time so wondered if anyone else with a 365 could shed some light on how theirs look. I've also acquired a few more toys, all of which are for sale so if anyone's interested in a really original and unmolested matching numbers '71 Manual Corvette Convertible (which has been asleep for many years but will be a real beaut when I've finished reawakening it), a rare 1975 Maserati Khamsin in need of TLC or a 1959 Cadi also needing TLC please let me know. I've also bought a 1966 Reliant Scimitar which has just had a nut and bolt rebuild (that's the gold car in the photo) - the detail the guy has gone to is unbelievable and barring a less than perfect paint job it's like a new car. I think it's an unusual car and a lucky find. What say you ???? Is that a contraction for 'Noisy but nice"? If so, I like it! I like things that make noise, smell like oil and burned hydrocarbons and most of all, go fast!
The Scimitar is lovely. I remember in the late 1970s my dad was thinking of buying a GTE as our family car.
your 365 turned out beautifully Russ, congratulations ! please post some pics of her in the daylight as soon possible.
365 went back into the paint shop today, hopefully for the last time. They're good people but have moved premises recently and the word "disorganised" is being very kind !! I'll wait now until everything's sorted and then post some decent pix. Hopefully it'll be before the end of 2016.
It's a typical "me" car - a bit off the mainstream path but I like quirky individual stuff. Having trouble taxing it for road use at the moment so I haven't driven it on the road yet. Bloody government red-tape !!
Finally got the 365 fully reassembled and back in one piece today. Had loads of problems with the paint shop but all finished now and I'm 93.45% happy with the end result. Now need to do oil change, service brakes etc and give the interior a good clean and bring the leather up to standard. Had my first fully legal drive today - only a couple of miles to get some petrol but so far so good (other than binding/squealing brakes). Hopefully will get this done next week, I'll post pix ASAP. About bloody time, that's all I can say !!!
93.45% is a few hundredths above average for paint shop satisfaction, so that counts as good news. After two years of membership in this club I've found that patience is not a virtue, it's mandatory!
Well done Russ! Congratulations on your first legal drive. Days are getting longer and ( maybe) drier so you'll soon get to enjoy the 365...
Very good news, what seen so far looks great ! can't wait for more pics... and for coming to the UK one day and see the Beauty !
Started looking at the mechanicals today - needs a brake caliper overhaul so that's a job in the list but I also need opinions on an oil weep which SEEMS to be coming from the front of both cam covers. Usually would any form of gasket sealant be used with (or instead of) gaskets ? I ask as there appears to be evidence of orange sealant under the covers. Does anyone know the correct torque setting for the cam covers and is it worth retorqing them just in case ?
