Any MV buffs remember this one? 300 units made, not sold in the US, carbon this, magnesium that, sandcast engine cases, etc. This one has been in a private Seattle area collection since new and has never been started or operated. The owner had another normal F4 to ride and this one to look at. He never even sat on it.

    Pretty tasty.

There was a traveling Motorcycle as art show, "Art of the Motorcycle". Started at the Guggenhein in NY, went to chicago (I saw it there) then eventually to Vegas (I saw it there), ending up at the Guggenhein in Spain.

The first motorcycle in the exibit was Oro #1, property of the king of Spain.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Art_of_the_Motorcycle

IIRC, by the time it got to Vegas, the king's bike was gone and another was there, or maybe none at all, can't quite recall.

    that's a beautiful bike.

are there any in the US that are actually used? It seems like I've seen one at C&C in SoCal but maybe that was a different MV model, or a replica? (I just recall the paint scheme and those exhaust pipes)

There are probably 10-15 F4 750 "Oro" models in the US. I'm sure a few of them get ridden around some. The normal F4 750 looks identical at first glance. Same paint scheme, same exhaust although the gold magnesium parts and wheels would be different colors. The F4 1000 that came out in '05 also looks pretty much identical.

    Uro,
I went to that exhibit in Vegas as well! Did you see the Britten there? I almost got thrown out for taking pictures of it, but managed to pretend I didn't know there was a "no photography" rule in effect. I then took a few more from under my folded arms, and the security guards' heads were spinning trying to figure out where the flash was firing from!

Re. the oro, cool bike but what a waste to have never been used as intended. People who buy things just to look at them should confine their purchases to static art.

If I remember correctly there was an allotment of 50 for the US but they were all spoken for well before the bike ever shipped. I know at least 51 made it here as I saw one for sale 10ish years ago that was not in the original 50.

Yes. There is a former professional racer who leaves here in Dallas and has one in his garage that he rides (at least he did last time I saw him) pretty regularly.

Boy I dunno. They were so crazy expensive when new back in the day I imagine a few peeps put them into cryogenic storage like this one. This one was sourced in Germany and privately imported. The guy was in it close to $60k when it was all said and done.

I stand corrected on the US version issue. I was not aware of the 50 that were sold here.

If thats the one at Red Label Moto in Seattle, my buddy was just telling me today he was looking at it seriously. Need to double check with him in the morning, but I know he was talking to Kie about it.

Lol, didn't even notice the username!

Sweet, hopefully it ends up down here. I'm sure he won't mind if I go ahead and snag it from him and break it in at PIR!........Ok, maybe a bad idea, but would be nice.

Lyle Lovett bought one and tracked it.

You may have seen the "S" model.

It looked similar but was aluminum in places the Oro was magnesium.

    Oro had Ohlins front end.

The Oro had carbon fiber fairing while the S was plastic.

Same engine, suspension. Oro was about 15 lbs lighter, maybe?

My "S", no longer mine. It is serving as "lobby art" in an office in NJ.

My neighbour had one of the original Oro's back from 1999, sold it a few years back in Canada for close to $100,000.

This is one of the few collectible bikes from the last decade....well worth it.

Thats an Oro for certain. The gold magnesium parts give it away. Having an MV Agusta (any model) in Canada is a serious achievement with your import laws.

There were 21 Oro's imported to the US by Eraldo Ferracci. He kept one and the remainder were sold to very high profile names like Paul Newman, Jay Leno, Lyle Lovitt, Carl Hass, Stefhan Johansen etc. I was able to get one because of my FBF sponsorship in the early 90s. These 20 were the only official US imports which included a US MSO. The retail price was $39,900.00. Allan
