    Good day folks,

I have the opportunity to grab a new SF90 Stradale from customer who couldn't take delivery. Pretty well speced. my question is, should I ask below MSRP? The car has been sitting at the dealer since Jan. 2024.

I asked the sales guy and he said they could not charge over or under MSRP per Ferrari's rule, is this true?

    Thanks. Cheers.

Since the customer did not take delivery, you are purchasing from the dealer not the customer, so it will be MSRP.

Yes, they can't charge over msrp, under msrp probably not, but may be able to get them to overallow on a trade

My SA said if the customer doesn't take delivery and if they sell the car at a loss, the original customer will lose the equivalent amount from their deposit money, and the rest will be refunded. FWIW.

I can't speak for other states, but that technically is not legal in California.

You might be right. I assume part of the deal is signing agreements stipulating these contingencies.

Why not make an offer and see what they say. At the end of the day- how much discount do you expect? 5k? 10k? And is that going to move the needle on a 550k car?

you either want it enough where the few bucks don’t matter. Or if you are looking for a deal- 100+ available on autotrader.

I’d at least demand a Ferrari jacket and hat. Maybe they throw in a pen?

When my SF90 Spider went Red10 and I couldn’t change the build I was told if I didn’t accept the car I would lose my deposit and the dealer would be hit with a charge of over $20K.
Found it hard to believe but they have told the same to other customers

So a follow up question would be: given the market conditions on this car right now (the fact that they have dropped in price significantly since launch), would you guys go for a new one or used with low miles? The price difference is like 100k.

    Cheers.

So let’s flip the question. What would be the benefit to buying the new one and paying 100k more? You aren’t building either one. Sure, you build a relationship with the dealer but you do that by buying used from them. Both would have delivery miles or low miles. What are you gaining by getting the new one and is it worth more for whatever benefit you find? I think it’s a pretty easy question to answer but only you can make it.

I have a new one - no issues.
If you like it buy it - drive it off the lot and go enjoy your life.
Too many people worry about the "what is my Ferrari worth"
Took me years to get my SF90 - you are lucky to buy brand new without the brain damage.

Yes, I get your point. But it is an experience in itself to know that no one else has the car. :) Is it worth 100k though? I am not sure...

Having done both, the experience is when you are able to design your car, order it, wait with anticipation for months/years and the big day when it finally arrives.

Buying someone else’s build as a new car would be no different for me than buying a pre-owned (some pre-owned cars haven’t barely been driven and may not have even left the showroom floor) For both you will be going to the dealership and driving home a new to you car (one may have slightly more miles than the other). So clearly, unless you have a 100k sitting around burning a hole in your pocket, find a pre-owned that you like and save the money.

  19. As I've said elsewhere, and I think it aptly applies here ...

Buy the car, not the deal. Do the former, and you'll never really regret the money you spent. Do the latter and you'll never really enjoy the car.

I'm pretty sure I know which car you're talking about; beige Daytona std seats? Considered it myself seriously but the seats are a deal breaker. Nicely optioned but not some of the options I'd choose except AF package and CF wheels. They are holding very tight on price, they never lose on a deal.

Also, there's over one hundred used for sale on Dupont Reg.

I think it’s a different one. The one I found is blue outside and black inside. I think there are quite a few out there where people couldn’t pick theirs up due to the economy or maybe bought it to make money from them but can’t because the market is lower right now for these cars.

Slightly different take. I’ve ordered new cars and specced them out myself and I have to say, knowing I’m going to get the exact car I want and envisioned is a wonderful experience. The waiting thing however has been interesting for me. For the cars I’ve received, I mostly forget that they are coming. I don’t follow the progress much and when I get “the CALL”, then, I get excited! In the mean time I’m looking at other cars.

I’ve also bought a few used cars and once I decide on the model, I go full ocd and look for cars with color and options I want. I set a number of must haves and eliminate those that don’t have that. Sometimes, my dream car shows up instantly and other times it takes way too long.

I’ve had so many cars that when I do purchase, I make sure I don’t have buyers remorse. On the matter of $100k, all else being equal, I’d rather go used and buy a bunch of Nvda or a couple of bitcoin. Just my 2c. It seems like a really good time to buy and there are a lot of great options out there. Good luck with your decision making.
