Mrs. Ferrari

Enzo and Dino,s mother were married. She died in, I think 1978. He never married Piero's mother and I believe she is still living but I could be wrong.

 

Laura Ferrari Dinos mother did not hsve the greatest reputation, she was credited for the great "walk out" in the early 60s of key employees for her disrespect of employees and meddling in the company, a few key employees told Enzo she's out or they are and the rest is history with the forming of ATS.


Vicious rumors or they were maybe fact were started by the employees as well stating she used to be a prostitute and the reason for Dinos illness and early death were she had syphillis that was passed on to him.

 

There is a movie called : "Enzo Ferrari".
Very nice. Has all the Ferrari History in it about the man and his family.

Enzo married Laura on the 28th April 1923, Alfredo (Dino) was born in 1932, during the second world war he met a woman called Lina Lardi who on the 22 May 1945 gave birth to Enzo's second son Piero, Alfredo who was better known as Dino died on the 30th June 1956 from nephritis (a kidney complaint) he also suffered from muscular dystrophy, Laura died on the 27th January 1978 aged 78, it was after Laura died that Enzo adopted Piero and involved him in the business, Enzo also had an older brother but he died in 1916 the same year as his Father.

As good as this movie is and as much as I loved it, the part about the two Mrs. Ferrari could have used a bit more meat. AFAIK they were the reason why today the Ferrari sites are in Maranello and Modena.

 

There was only one Mrs Ferrari, Enzo never remarried after Laura died,Enzo started out in Modena in 1923 distributing Alfa Romeos,in 1943 the allies were bombing the main industrial centres in the po valley where Modena was situated, that is the reason why Enzo moved to Maranello in 1943.

I hear you. I read in a bio that he kept offices and bedrooms in both locations though because it made it easier to have a mistress aside from the wife.

 

I've read that in 1943 Italian government made regulations to de-centralize the industry, which obligated Enzo to move his factory to Maranello.

 

That is right also, there was one story where after a really hard night he arranged to meet with Lina forgetting that Laura had arranged to be there that day also.

 

Enzo was basically ordered out of Modena because of the dangers of the allied bombing campaign along with other key factories, making them a much harder target.

If Piero was his son, why did he have to adopt him?

 

Piero was born out of wedlock.

 

There is a woman in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii who runs a coffee shop with the cavallino prancing horse in her shop logo of Ferrari Coffee. She claims to be Enzo's daughter. You guys have not mentioned there being a daughter and I have never read anything of there being a daughter. So, is she a fake????

 

I am 100% certain that Enzo did not have a Daughter, but then again Piero was only recognised after Laura's death, so who knows.

 

We had a guy on here a few months ago who was interested in dating this woman who was tangentally related to Piero but we never quite figured out the lineage....
