Please refer back to my post (#7) about Andre @ K11 Auto. Also, Orion Motorsports used to work on a Maserati Biturbo I had. They do mostly race prep, but they DO have plenty of Ferrari experience as well, and they are Alfa freaks: http://www.orionmotorsports.com/
BLAMPEE........ Woodhouse Porsche had an older tech who was certified on the Carrera GT a while back (2006-07) and I had him do a couple of Ferrari PPI's for me......he knew his cars IMHO.....and for routine stuff that is where I would go with your 355. Don't know anyone locally who can do your headers, valve guides, cats, adjustable shocks, electric seats, etc, when all that stuff goes though......[/joke] You'll like Omaha..........I sure did during the 2 times I was there on business. I could move there without issue tomorrow and be quite happy. Really nice people, beautiful countryside and at the time a very low cost of living. You'll probably want to stay out in the west part of the city as previously mentioned.
Thank you for all your replies. Does anyone have or know of any new(er) townhouses for rent for 12-24 months in Western Omaha? Looking to move Feb 1-Mar 1. I need no lawn maintenance and a TWO-CAR garage less than $1400/month PM me if so.
These are brand new condos in a totally new community. About 70th & Center. Pretty neat: http://www.broadmoor.cc/floorplans-and-pricing.aspx?community=17 The Broadmoor @ Aksarben Village. Only drawback is that although parking is covered and underground, it is still a shared space. But hey, even the W residences are shared garages. Here's the Askarben Village link: http://www.aksarbenvillage.com/ These are interesting trilevels: http://omaha.craigslist.org/apa/2075181853.html Oops, just saw you are looking for PM, sorry.
Thank you for the info. I have been searching CL and I am looking more for a place that is not managed by a large corporation. The home I live in now was leased for 24 months with a pre-negotiated price for me to purchase this month. However, since I am moving I will not be able to buy the unit. I NEED a two-car ATTACHED garage.
Ok, here's my .05 worth. If you want to hang with a younger crowd, then by all means go do some research on the places mentioned above, as well as Midtown Crossing and Pinhook Flats. But if you want to be much further west, and live in a QUIET place where the neighbors are older (45-50ish), professional people, then look at Lakeside Hills Apartments. I just called a friend that lives there, he has the top-end apt. - 2 BR, and 2 indoor underground heated parking stalls, and his rent is $1406.00/month. http://digbro.com/entry/index.cfm?user_id=3213&l=0&r=0&c_id=&getFl=1&fl_id=1
The high rises that back up to Pacific? I don't know much about them, but I do know I have seen a lot of retirees pull in and out of there. And I don't mean 40-50 yr old retirees. Keep in mind he wants indoor heated parking. I didn't know they were building a new house on the site of the Witherspoon Mansion that burned up, it's been awhile since I drove down Pacific that far (east).
Yes, those. There is also indoor parking at them. True enough that there are more of the older set living there, but it IS in a VERY nice area of town....one of the best, IMO. http://www.morgan-properties.com/morganlocations/PropertyDetail.asp?propertyID=5313 BTW, Trader Joe's just opened across the street, and Whole Foods is 6 or so blocks away.
Hey guys. Thanks for all the info. I need a two-car ATTACHED garage--no interest in communal parking, even if heated. I'll be in Omaha Jan 4; I have 5 different places thus far to view.
That place is a dump. One Pacific Place is the best apartment complex in Omaha and right across the street from the complex you mentioned. http://www.broadmoor.cc/property.aspx?community=2
OPP is simply "okay". Here's my beef: Doesnt matter if the house costs $600 or $2600....WHY IS IT THAT MOST OF THE HOMES FOR RENT HAVE HIDEOUS KITCHENS?? Ick... Stone Creek Villas are my favorite community but they aren't going to have any units available that I need. I have found a couple AWESOME homes for $1600 and under and will be in Omaha Jan 4-6 to make a final decision.
Because they are rentals? The person/restaurant per capita ratio is about 4:1 here, nobody spends much time in the kitchen. At least few I know do, BWDIK?
Somehow I screwed that up. I meant to say of all the people I know, and I know a ton of people, none really 'cook'. Spaghetti, home made lasagna, home made pizza is about it. Places you see in 'Diners, Drive-Inns and Dives'? We have none of that here. Oh, we have had 5-6 places on that show, but the food they produce isn't that 'special'. IMO Blam, if you have a favorite food, brand or ingredient, you may want to ask us if we have it here. Some stuff we have that others don't, and vice verse'. I have an in-law that came back every Xmas and bought a case of Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing because they didn't have it where he is. Silly things like that.
What about Alpine Inn? LMAO. That there's some goooood chikun. Anyway, never been in the Regency apts, but thought I'd throw something in there....I own, in CB, so IDK either..... Blam....yeah, was pretty thrown by your orig Q about a townhouse, which is why I think you got so many apartment suggestions. You REALLY should only be looking at SFH's since that is pretty much what our market is. Let us know the areas you are looking at places while you are here, and we can give you some insight as to the "hood(s)".
Hmmm, I know Glen Robey VERY well.... I think Blam has been PM'd to death over this, he knows we are trying to help, if he needs us he knows where we are... apparently Omaha is now single-dwelling-condo built like Portland is, that's why we have an issue - not a lot of that here.
Maybe not if we recall Mayor TaxSuttle... Yeah, cool, neato, a shuttle train that goes from the Old Market 'all the way up to' the Qwest Centre, woo how, all of, what, 8 blocks maybe? The problem still remains: getting TO the train in order to ride it.
Bingo. And, what's with all the surface parking lots? If they were REALLY that concerned with stuff being spread out, go vertical. At least the Hilton is making money, lol. I'm rooting for you guys on not so Sut(b)tle....of course across the river we've had Hanafan in nearly as long as I've been alive. Time for a change....a BIG change. What do you think of our "entry ways" and.....uh....."artwork". What a waste.
So.....due to a serious power struggle within my company I am MOVING to Omaha....but will not be living/working there for 60 days. I will be working in Kansas City for the first 60 days before they can use a back-door power-pull (directly from the CEO) to transfer me to Omaha. I wish I could get into details, but suffice to say, my current State General Agent is NOT happy to see me go and has done everything he can to stop me from leaving. So, I have to take a 60-day stop in KC, then the KC SGA will transfer me to NE. WHew!!!! Looking forward to moving!!! Hope to take some of you for a ride in my 355.
Never saw it, it must be if you come across from downtown Omaha. I can't tell you the last time I came across the 480 bridge. Me and a friend went over and hit all 3 casinos last Friday - reminded me of why I don't gamble. The only one worth going to was Ameristar, and even that one: not so much.
