Thanks for posting that link. The reviewer seemed to love the California. I think Ferrari has hit another home run with this car. Quick points from the article: The dual clutch transmission is fantastic, car is exciting to drive and there is no cowl shake to speak of.

I bet it looks better in person too,. Especially with the optional wheels.

If the better-looking wheels are optional, they need to make them standard. The California has enough challenges with its looks to let any of them out the door with those original wheels. The originals are just plain stodgy and boring looking!

I agree that Ferrari styling is quickly going downhill, and that's unacceptable for such an expensive car. Alfas, Jaguars, and even some GM products (Corvette, Solstice) look better.

Ferrari has or will lose it customer base with these kinds of cars. This should have a Mercedes badge on it, or maybe a Cadillac badget, but not a Ferrari.

Too much of a chick car, and that's a big shame.

How many chick cars go 0-60 in 4 seconds, have a top speed of over 190 mph and come standard with cross drilled carbon-ceramic brakes? Not many. The styling is controversial and the wheels could be better. However, if you take what the writer is reporting as fact(I know writers, reporters are not always right), the California still drives and handles like a Ferrari. So that tells me it is not soft. For some reason, I am more upset that Ferrari is coming out with the Scuderia Spider than the California.

"priced higher than the f430 spider" ?????

You gotta be kidding me. There's no way anyone is taking this car over the F430 spider unless they already have one and have the money to burn.

And last time I checked, 430 spiders are barely even moving at 180k. Keep dreamin!

As someone who cancelled his CA for a Scuderia Spider, I am thrilled! Scuderia Spider will be unveiled next weekend at Mugello and it is definitely not a chick's car

I do not think the Scuderia Spider is a chick car either. That was not what I was trying to say. The California was introduced because Ferrari had invested a large amount of money in the project while they were running Maserati. I was worried the California would be soft, relatively slow and unengaging. It sounds like it is not. That was my point. Whereas, the Scuderia Spider seems like an attempt by Ferrari to try to suck every possible dollar out of the 430 before its demise. I bet the Scuderia Spider will be a wonderful car and I am sure you will enjoy yours.

No need for it, due to the dual clutch, although I do not know if I'd like that...

Ferrari has broadened it's customer base with a car like this. The other cars are still made and available for the typical buyers; the F149 is available for crossover, new, and repeat buyers. There is now a Ferrari for a very wide spectrum of tastes and needs.

Even if the F149 appealed only to chicks, which it doesn't, that is instantly 50% more of a potential customer base created. Get the women working, in the office, making an income ..... then tax them. You have instantly 50% more revenue pouring in.

Ferrari doesn't produce the spider of the scuderia to make much more money. A good friend (he's working for a ferrari dealer) told me the following story:
After Ferrari shows the F430scuderia they sell 8 from 10 cars as scuderia and only 2 are standard F430 coupes! Now they can not stop the production of the scuderia and it will produced like the "normal" cars. Result: no Limit!
That's the reason why they will release a very limited edition of the scuderia spider!

PS: I saw the 430 scuderia spider in person three weeks ago when i was in maranello! It was a white one with black interior! Hot car!
