Ferrari 212 Inter Vignale Coupe "Bumblebee" at Bonhams sold for $804,500 against $1 - 1.3 million estimate. If a car had a reserve, it was lucky to sell.
Yeah but Obama and Bernanke say we are heading out the economy now. How can these cars not sell for those prices? It will be interesting to see what happens to prices in the next couple of years.
I am not sure either but when you really sit back and look what is happening, decreasing prices, national debt that is more than we can imagine, goverment control of earnings, I am not optimistic about the financial future and that includes cars. The only good thing about the good Ferraris, is that we live in a global market and China will soon buy them together with our souls. G

I think the estimates for most of the cars were way too high and there were a lot of cool cars to buy as I stated in an earlyer post. The high estimates put a lot of folks off including me. A lot of my friends that go every years did not go this year so lower number of impulse buyers could have hurt things.
Whole auction looked like a bust. Gullwings went for some $$ as did vintage picnic sets (WTF). Lots of nice cars and some good deals on 1930's American iron like Caddy's. Estimates were way too high which kind of torpedoes interest pre auction.
China already owes many souls in the US. Good thing is that they are slowing down. They don't want to buy our debt any more. The bad thing is, neither does anyone else.
They are busy buying up the world's oil reserves in the ground. They have already secured huge amounts of reserves in West Africa.
Good for you. I only get to see Luusos when I am in Carmel, this year I saw three, and I think you did the right thing and will enjoy your car for years to come. Just a great loom and a great sound. I write this from a deck overlooking Capitola beach! Jay
