I was watching "Father of the Bride 2" the other day when I noticed a red Mondial (next to Steve Martin's Austin Healey). That got me thinking about Mondials in movies. The most famous Mondial in a movie (in my opinion) is the red Mondial that a blind Al Pacino drives in "Scent of a Woman." There is also a white Mondial in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." I'm noticing a pattern with 2 of the movies mentioned above starring Steve Martin. Any other comments on the subject?

Not Mondial, but here's some Steve Martin / Ferrari trivia for everyone...

There is also a red Testarossa in "Grand Canyon" which Steve Martin's character drives. Mr. Martin is a Ferrari guy in real life, and owns / has owned many F-cars, although publicly, he is very quiet about his Ferrari interest. A close friend of mine, who has worked in the film industry for many years (and worked on Grand Canyon), claims that Hollywood rumour says the F-cars appearing in Steve's movies were actually his privately owned cars at the time...

As for Mondials in other movies, I can only think of one other --- "Weird Science" back in the 80's --- can't remember if that Mondial was black or red.

Honorable mention, though not a film, was Madonna's ultra-80's classic, "Material Girl" music video in which a red Mondial Cab has a starring role.

Good God!!! It's embarrassing to have been in high school in the early 80's!!!!! :)

These are 2 different movies. The one with the 308 is National Lampoon's Vacation and the one with the Mondial is Vegas Vacation.

Finnerty, don't be embarrassed about your 80's high school heritage ... embrace it !! :) In addition to the previously mentioned Madonna video, let's not forget "Dancin' On The Ceiling", from Lionel Ritchie, where he and two bandmates arrive at the gig in a red 3.2 Cab in the intro.
