. It is called the Tom Selleck effect. When the next wave of buyer arrives (those born after Magnum PI was discontinued), I predict the starry premium will be reduced, and because there are much much more 308/328 built than the Mondial, the pricees will be re-balanced somewhat.
I remember! But even so, the 328 is much nicer than the 308 it replaced, and while a closer call compared to the Mondial, my bias likes the 2+2 seater better! Styling is holding up as well as the more rounded 328, and the longer wheelbase gives a more comfortable ride. Sigh..........you have forgotten about syndication! If logic controlled the marketplace, I would have to agree! Regards, Jerry
Since there is such a low volume of T coupes I think it is very hard to value. At this price point it is more than I want to spend on a toy. but that's just me. As far as the 308's the early carb cars are bringing big money and are selling quickly and the same for the last year qv's although they are not bringing as much. I still can't believe that 139,9 for that 83 308 a couple of years ago 39,9 would of been a high asking price! I love both the Mondial and 308 but unfortunately owning both, at the same time anyways, is not feasible for me.

Not sure about the 928 as a daily driver! Not that it is not a worthy car. And if you replace every single petrochemical fluid hose it will not likely burn up on you. The 3 Most Common Myths about the Porsche 928 - @FlatSixes - the blog about Porsche However, not two months ago I noticed a 928 at my local used car lot. This is not what you would call a high end used car lot. Its a place where I once drove a small Mercedes two seat drop top of some sort. All the interior plastic was pealing off. The suspension was loose as a two dollar hooker. The salesman insisted he drive with me and was insistent, in his rich German accent: "Don't push it!" Further, I researched 0-60 times on Porche sites. Many of them did not even list the 928! The only 928/Ferrari comparison review compared the 928 to the 308, and was, at best, equivocal. And then there is the simple fact everyone knows when you pull up in a 1986 Ferarri of any type. I always thought the 928 looked to be hauling around a giant diaper.
In 5 years we could look back on this and have a chuckle...As we take respective $250,000+ checks to the bank. A man may dream
I just sold a 928s4 5 speed i had for 2 years.. tons of fun. the 928's have a problem with aluminum heads and block, with steel gasket. ala electrolysis .. they all corrode and start to leak water in the engine under vacuum. hence why i got rid of mine. $5,000 fix to do it right.. then its fixed for good. but hold cow - its a ton of fun to throw around and abuse. I do have a 328 as well.. and its a different experience .. i'd never do the 328 what i did to the 928... but the 928 was like dating a hot chick that will never last.. fun for a while - but not the long term commitment material like a 328 is. they are apples and oranges. but both fun!
A few years ago, who would have thought Dino's would be $200K+ cars? Or 308's heading towards $100k? Maybe it's time to go purchase a few beater Mondial's? In anticipation of the day when a project Mondial will be $100k? Hmmm.....where's that 401k account login? Can you imagine it? Although, the day that the price of my Mondial crosses with a Cali T - That might be the day that I sell. Then again, maybe not. Sid
So, is this a "Mondial's For Sale" thread or just another "Yippee, my car's going to be worth a lot of money one day!" thread? There seems to be a bunch of those floating around lately.... 2cam
*sigh* fine, here's my contribution. Has it been discussed? MONDIAL FERRARI In all seriousness though, most of it (for me) is in jest. The only matter would mean I'd have more money to go spend on more cars, so really, whether my Mondial is worth $10K or $100K, either way, that money's as good as spent!
The Mondial was and apparently remains an affordable method to acquire an actual Old School Ferrari and drive the hell out of it for about half what a two seat version costs. I bought my Mondial for the purpose of inquiry: "Whats The Ruckus All About"? I found out and did so in comfort and style unavailable in the two seat version. Going on 11,000 miles and soon to acquire my third set of tires here in the Mountains and thus presume to speak from some authority [See Tire Report Thread]

This looks like a scam. Be careful with ridiculously low pricing online, especially Craigslist, if there's a phone number, Google it first, most likely will show up on multiple cars and someone flagged as scam. Never give out personal info, use a temp email if you are curious! Best, Mike
