    Hi all

I realize these posts are always kind of 'soft classifieds' so let me upgrade my account...

I'm ready to move on from my Mondial T after 19 years, and could use some advice on how to proceed. I really don't enjoy the process of selling cars! I have a running and driving 89 Mondial T, with an older repaint in black. Interior has redone seats in black and tan alcantara, but other areas could use attention. Major done in 2016 and 2019, so it is up to date, but coming due soon. Electrics work enough to pass Texas inspection, but need some looking into, as HVAC is out and back windows are s-l-o-w.

Any advice on how to sell? I'm thinking about submitting to Bring A Trailer but am wary of selling it off to someone who doesn't know what they're getting into (like myself 19 years ago :D)

Classified ad here would get me a savvy buyer, but how to price it?

    Anybody have thoughts?
    Thanks
    Sam

Bat will probably get you the most $, you just need to be fully transparent and very detailed. Have a reasonable reserve in mind, but in my opinion a no reserve auction is always best for this scenario. Is it a coupe or cabrio?

The mention of SLOW back windows labels it a cabriolet, lol. I think they all are slow at this age, a bit like their owners.
There is a similar car closing today on Cars and Bids, which should give you at least a basis for worth. They seem to have dropped a bit in the last few months after hitting peak value when everything else went nuts during the pandemic.

    Thanks all. It's a cabrio.

I think you may be right, BaT with no reserve and a lot of transparency may be the best route.
Ease of transaction is at least as important as getting top dollar for me but of course, I'd like to get a reasonable amount for it.
I had a car on BaT a few years ago, and that was fairly easy

The quick and easy (if that’s what you’re looking for) could be a call to Beverly Hills Car Club. Especially if the car has a lot of needs…

Also, there’s a person in the classifieds looking for a Mondial T project. I think they’re looking for a Coupe but perhaps they’d consider a Cab?

    Good luck with the sale!

I would never call BHCC to sell a car, they offer 1/4 value on everything, and if I had to guess, they would pay $8K-$10K for this t project, which would be the biggest insult to the seller. Oddly enough, they still manage to buy a lot of cars where they are, but more often from estates (dead owners).

Well, as 2cam mentions, BHCC is kind of the floor for a range. 40's would be pretty cheeky of an ask, so I'm thinking 30's. I do have some bonus items like B-pillars and fusebox PCB new in the box.

I'm watching at the car greatscott73 mentioned on C&B as a comp, it's at $35K, that may be about right

Huh, this is turning into a classified :) Hopefully that is allowed.
I'm coming to the conclusion the $35K is a reasonable Buy It Now price, where I'm leaving some on the table for the buyer without losing my shirt. Open to opinions on that, however.

The car is in Texas Hill Country (between San Antonio and Austin) if anyone wants an in-person look.

I had the seats redone by GTS Classics. Normally I'm a 'keep it stock' guy, but this car's seats had already been redone once in black, so I took a little leeway. GTS suggested the tan to break up the interior more, so it was done in black leather with tan alcantara inserts and tan stitching. I can get a better picture. I still have a bunch of the tan alcantara to do a few more panels if needed.

I'm not an expert on this forum, but I think you can click my name or avatar and then click "start a conversation" if you want to send a private message.

    Thanks

As I mentioned, these had already been previously redone, so I figured I wasn't hurting originality. The straps under the foam (I think that's how it works) had failed, making them very hard to sit in. GTS completely disassembled them, fixed them, cleaned them up, and recovered them. Doesn't look like a project to me.

    What is the mileage?

What was the mileage at the 2019 belt service?

Black exterior adds value. '89 T is mouse belt free.

The two tone seats... well, at least there is no rush if you don't like them.

Calling it a project to manage expectations, but it is running and rust-free
Odometer is around 67K now, 2019 belts done at 66K. If I recall, the previous owner replaced the odometer, so TMU.
Yeah, I know, red flag - I was much younger and wanted a Ferrari

Sorry about this mess of a "classified" - I was originally posting in the Mondial subforum, trying to figure out how to price this fairly. Mods moved it here.
