It's unlikely, but the clips in the trailer look great. Enzo is in the Mondial so I guess it's Lamborghini's 'dream'.

    Assuming LP400 vs QV that's 14.4 vs 14.5 in 1/4.

Well within reaction time/wheel spin/botched shift....

    Since we're talking about hypotheticals...

So the lowest value Ferrari (not my words...) against the highest value Lambo...at that time. Good compared I think.

Price list started with the 308 GTB, then 308 GTS, then Mondial, then 400/412, Boxer (if so)/Testarossa....

Just watched the entire movie via Amazone Prime...$6.99 rental for 2 days. It may help to know something about the life of Ferruccio Lamborghini before watching the movie as many scenes are disjointed in time. The scene of the Mondial racing the Lambo appears throughout the movie, mostly different takes. Overall, an interesting vision of Lamborghini's life. His death is implied at the end. Enzo racing Ferruccio is impied as a figment of Lamborghini's mind, IMHO.
    Worth watching.

I watched the movie - its not worth the rental .... its not worth watching if its for free.

as for the Mondial vs. Countach.... not only is it a dream but they used an early Mondial... it was just such a poorly done movie. the guy playing Enzo did not look like him - nor did the guy playing Ferruccio ....

Just curious, do we know what Enzo used as a daily in the '80's? I would assume a 412 (he liked GT's), but it is not inconceivable that he would drive a Mondial.

Fiat or Lancia sedan. He stopped driving Ferrari's in the 60s. his last car - was a Lancia Thema 8.5 - with Ferrari qv engine. His last Ferrari was one of the Superfast V-12's. Occasionally he may have been driven in a 400i ... but during those days it was wiser to stay low key, to avoid the kidnapping attempts that were the rage in Italy. in the 60's he had a mini that he loved, and a Peugeot 405 along with a mixture of Fiat's and Lancia's. He usually had the big 2+2 Ferrari's... there is a great picture of him driving a 250 SWB .... which I understand he used to drive like a crazy person. fun story in one of his biography's he is driving his Mini and his Driver Dino T, is along side of him. coming down the Modena - Maranello road, He passes a large truck, but he has to pull back in lane fast to avoid another car, so he hits the truck he was passing. bumper is falling off the car. They say nothing during the last 20 min. he pulls into the factory courtyard, and Enzo says to the driver - " Hmm, the gall that guy had, look what he did to my bumper. take it over to the body shop and have them fix it by lunch" winks at him and walks in. Fiamme Brescia, tells the story of Enzo driving her up in the hills, and that he was wild - going where he wanted and passing people like crazy, at high rate of speed.

Thanks for the detailed response. Interesting that he didn't feel comfortable driving a Ferrari in public. If the political situation in 1970's Italy made driving flashy cars risky for public figures, it would seem to be even more unlikely that Ferruccio would be tooling around in a Countach than Enzo in a humble Mondial. (Of course I realize that it's a matter of artistic license in the film scene.)

The film is terrible and not at all reflective of Ferrucio Lamborghini. At all. When the Countach came out he was basically wanting to sell the company. He had a white one - no wing, that he drove but not that frequently. You would have more luck finding him on a Lambo tractor than in a car. Bob Wallace talks about Lamborghini driving and smoking all the time. he wrecked ( dented ) his Muira all the time. he liked the early front-engine Lambos best.

The film was more of a fantasy and not a good one. artistic? maybe ... but horrible in any respect. I don't know why people making films feel they have to adjust historical fact... the reality is interesting enough.

Mr. Ferrari basically did not like to show wealth- when he was always poor-mouthing the Italian motor industry. The reality is that until he sold 1/2 to Fiat in 68, he was not that wealthy... but he did have some real estate and savings, nothing like after he was flush with money from Fiat. Enzo Ferrari loved more than anything when the rich and famous bought his cars for way more than he knew they were worth. He always considered himself to come from a poor working family and kept that chip on his shoulder all the time. Remember that when he was born Italy was a kingdom with dukes and prices etc... at the top of the social order.

Politically speaking - Ferrari was all over the place to suit his needs. Modena is a historic hotbed of communism, and he had to be careful to show he was not a capitalist pig... and Italy also had is share of Fascists that he had to deal with and get along with ... so running around in one of his flashy cars was not good for $$$$. His wife Laura was cheap, and difficult so she would not let him be that flashy... even with his mistresses... Dino had to keep his car at the factory so his mom would not know.
