Monaco does not depend on speed. Handling rules. Driver skill prevails. I am thinking this is where the BMW/Heidfeld will come out a winner. I do believe that Massa is so focused that he will do well. Hamilton will also show his true ability on a short tight circuit. Coultard is looking good and has the most experience at Monaco. Unless Alonso and Raikkonen regain their focus, I do not expect either one to do anything exceptional. So: 1) Heidfled 2) Massa 3) Coultard 4) Hamilton 5) Kubica 6) Raikkonen 7) Trulli 8) Alonso
I completely agree that Monaco is a test of driving skill, particularly in qualifying. With that being said, Massa has a career best finish of...drumroll, please...9th place. Yes, sir, Monaco certainly separates the men from the boys in F1...and Massa is still in the short pants, it seems. The last two Monaco GPs were won by Alonso and Kimi, respectively. Monaco more than any other track rewards experience as much as anything. How you think neither of them will be "exceptional" is beyond me. I expect Alonso and Kimi to be the top two at Monaco this year. Massa will not be in the top 5.
Fully agreed. And just for the record: Massa in the Ferrari arrived one lap down last year while MS starting from last made it to fifth. Alonso and Kimi both have won at Monaco. As has Hamilton in a non F1 of course. So: 1. Hamilton 2. Alonso 3. Kimi 4. Heidi 5. Kubica 6. DC 7. Trulli 8. Massa
I have no idea how you came to this conclusion. My only guess is that you've been overly influenced by the Barcelona race. Kimi and Alonso have both won at this track and are still the best in the business, except for Lewis, lol. 1. Raikkonen 2. Hamilton 3. Alonso 4. Heidfeld 5. Coulthard 6. Massa 7. Kubica 8. Trulli
I stand corrected, I looked up his results on wikipedia and missed that one. I mistook the 2004 European GP results for Monaco. Thanks!
I just think that the BMW has been so close the last few races, so Monaco would be the perfect place to show its strength.
Well, I think Mechanical Grip and a Torquey Engine with a driver who has big balls as well as finesse will carry the day here. My prediction is Hamilton on this one.
it's gonna be an interesting race. quali will be really interesting. i think Massa will take it, should he get pole. but then again, i think it's gonna be either Kimi or Alonso on this one. Kimi in particular has plenty to prove. plus, i'm sure he wants to get over the dissapointment. so, my guess is, if Massa gets pole, the race is his. otherwise, it's Kimi's. oh btws, lets not forget Quick Nick's impressive display at Monaco in recent times. i'm hoping to see him on the podium.

1. Kimi 2. Lewis 3. Massa 4. Alfonso 5. Heidi 6. Rosberg 7. Kubica 8. Fisi Kimi's pole lap in 2005: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFHy_ieU3Pc&mode=related&search= Kimi really knows this track, and I think he will get pole and go on to win.
1)Hammy 2)Kimi 3)Nicky 4)Robby 5)Felipe 6)Freddy 7)Trulli 8)Fisi 9)Heikki 10)DC 11)Ralfie 12)Webby I cant think of anyone else that ends with an "e" sound.
pole position is the great indicator in monaco. i wonder who has had the most pole positions this year?
I would normally put him there too, but his qualifying and first corner in the last race disappointed me.
Well he missed Pole only by 0.03 at the last race, and at least he tried to get by Massa instead of settling for second place. I think he will be fine at this race, just have a feeling Lewis might take this one.
He was really light on fuel though, attempting to qualify on pole. Very hypocritical of Ron Dennis though, he has said that the BMW Saubers have run light on fuel and called them unsportsmanlike, or something along those lines.
I have that strange feeling, I want Ferrari to win (of course), but I have this inkling that Lewis will somehow win.
i have this feeling....IF Hamilton wins the next race, i think he'll blow away Alonson for the rest of the season.
I would give Alonso more credit than that, he is a two time world champion who beat both Michael and Kimi on track. I would think he'd have something up his sleeve or newfound motivation, not to let himself be blown away by a rookie, albeit an amazing one. It would be pretty amazing if that happened though.
i don't think FA will roll over anytime soon...so long as his car stays competitive, he's going to be right up there challenging for the WDC... For Monaco, the i expect the usual suspects to be fighting for the win...two guys in silver cars, and two guys in the red cars...
