All the parts finally came in so that I could install my MOMO hub and Mod 80 steering wheel (350mm diameter.) The Torx T27 safety bit required to pull the factory airbag (as posted in a separate thread) was a surprise but once in hand, the job went quickly.

I used the Momo 19103 hub which I imported from Demon Tweeks in the UK since MOMO USA does not stock this item. The 19103 hub includes a resistor to extinguish the airbag light. I put a Momo 15mm spacer in between the hub and the wheel to bring it closer to my torso. In total it measures 3.5 inches from the base to the top of the Momo spacer

Hear are the pics of the hub & spacer, then the wheel. I still think the wheel is a little too far away from my torso, so I may use the Hill Engineering hub adapter instead if it is longer. Sorry for the low res pics, had to use my Blackberry since the wife has stolen our digital camera for all the holiday pics.

Cool mod! What is the wheel made of - looks sorta spongey? Alcantara perhaps?

This wheel is covered in suede. Unfortunately it will eventually turn gray and the suede will flatten after a few years, even with care. That will be the time to re-cover in alcantara. I've had a few suede Momo Monte Carlo wheels over the years and they all aged the same way.

Forgot to mention that Momo lists the "dish" aka offset dimension for all their steering wheels on their website. The Mod80 has a 27mm offset (a little over 1 inch.) So with the 3.5 inches of the hub & spacer and the 1 inch of the wheel, there is a total stack height of 4.5 inches away from the mounting base surrounding the splined steering shaft where the plastic horn module lives. Not quite enough to bring the top of the wheel comfortably into my hands. 5 inches would have been perfect.

No apologies required :) . That's the beauty of the Momo 6 fastener mounting system for the wheel. Easy to swap from one style to the next very easily.

Can you somehow retrofit a cavallino on there? Would finish it off nicely.

Part number 137819 (348 horn push) from Eurospares.co.uk seems to fit the Momo range. Cost a modest £11..........

Absolutely. All Momo steering wheels share the same 6 bolt fastening arrangement. Cavallino is completely flat though, no dish, so it will sit closer to the dashboard.

For my race car setup I'm using s Sparco with quick disconnect coupled to a quick ratio non assisted rack.

Feels like a million bucks and gives me plenty of room.

Great looking wheel! I agree that a cavallino would be a cherry on top. Looks much better than the bulky factory wheel.

Bruce, I thought you were going for light weight in the race car?
    I figured something like this:

Looks great! But with all the talk up here of 348 owners modifying their cars with 355 wheels, 355 taillights, and removing their cheeze graters to look more like their younger brothers........

This seems a perfect opportunity to suggest a retrofit with a genuine 348 steering wheel from your older brother's parts bin. Hmmm? Just keeping it in the family ;)

This is (shhh, don't tell anyone) the MOMO 'tuner' model in my car (acckk! It hurts to ever type that!). Hill adaptor + spacer places the wheel in the perfect position, and rids me of that Gawd-Awful air bag wheel.
Pull the air bag light and you're in business.

Not to knock the skinnier aftermarket wheels (they look nice) but am I one of the few who actually thinks the OEM wheel looks fine?

The early wheel maybe as thats not too bad but the later airbag wheel is just horrible to look at

I think the 360 wheel is the ultimate upgrade for our cars, but finding an airbag for less than a prince's sum is a feat...
